Do you know if the people polled only named their favorite? Or second or third or top five or what? That would favor teams like the Packers or maybe Broncos.

If it's just the favorite, then it's mostly about population - assuming the great majority would pick the team they are close to. That would favor the Giants and maybe the Bears.

Also, do you know if the poll was a fixed number per county? Or if big population counties had more people polled? Fixed per county would favor the Broncos or Seahawks or maybe Cowboys.

Seeing the Broncos, Packers, Cowboys and Steelers there in the top 5 doesn't surprise me at all... but the Giants? I used to live in central NY state... I was very surprised at the lack of Giants and Jets fans.

Though I think there were some Giants "fans"... fair weather fans that didn't really follow the team or know what was going on from week to week... or who found out who won during the week (and not on game days)... and talked about the highlights they watched.

Polls are unreliable.
In reality everyone knows the Packers are America's favorite team.

The list in the article is most likely all true. The question is why it would upset anyone. Posters are , IMO, having the old argument in a different wording. My dog's better than your dog !
As for me, I stopped swinging at pitches in the dirt years ago !

It is a numbers game.

Every graduate from the University Of Tennessee who is still alive today, every Colt fan who is alive today, and every, heathen Coloradan now find the Broncos “Their Team.”

It is not because they love The Broncos. It is because they love Peyton.

When Payton retires next year… The Broncos will go back to being as popular as a 1977 Ford Pinto.

Odd that Idaho is listed as a Seattle state...

I lived there, and can pretty confidently say there are more Packer and 9er and Donco fans than Seattle.

Maybe the SB win changed things.
