Eh, not Corey Williams. Cullen Jenkins would've had a bigger impact on the season.

Why did they fire the Rock?

Everything that I have read about him and his program has been of a positive nature, including the switch to free-weights, and the unprecedented participation in the off-season conditioning program. With a new guy, is the participation going to go up or down? My guess is that initially, up, because they all have to get the "program" from the "new guy", but I have read that the Rock was extremely well-liked on a personal level, and that played no small part in the impressive turnout enjoyed by the Packers. I'm having a tough time figuring this move out.

If you are tempted to reply, "injuries"...well, we have Pepper Burruss, Dr. McKenzie, Dr. Gray, Bryan Engel, Kurt Fielding, Nate Weir, Matt Franz, and David Rule on the athletic training staff...still...

...maybe being held accountable for bustin' Justin? I think that fat f##k might have cost a lot of good people jobs...It IS a possibility.

Why did they fire the Rock?

"dfosterf" wrote:

I read in one article (can't remember which one) that a source cited "philosophical differences" between the two men as the reason MM fired Rock.

Odd, considering MM first hired Rock and these differences didn't seem to inhibit the men from being on the same page...

Edit: Perhaps the "philosophical differences" refer to a difference of opinion regarding the stretching time for players? MM increased the time allocated during warm ups and pre-game for player stretching, and maybe wanted it to be emphasized more, while Rock thought it was fine as is..?

I have read everything on this whole subject I can find, and I must say there has been some outstanding input from my fellow posters here. I just want to say that while parts of me find some satisfaction in the [strike]shit cannings[/strike] firings, I have a huge sense of unease over the whole damn deal. Most of me tells me that the wholesale firings have mostly to do with providing a clean palette for the new DC, so I guess I should be taking a "wait and see" attitude... it does feel like we could very easily have taken a step backwards instead of forward... I just want to know who to start complaining about, I guess. 🤐

Mid- December, this year.

"Winston Moss to Greg Bedard this week: Brady is still having an extremely solid season. Brady has been very, very quiet but Brady has done very well this season.

The Green Bay Packers can call this man our assistant coach, whatever. To me he is a former linebacker that may or may not coach our linebackers, or for that matter may or may not have been coaching anyone on a team that [strike]has[/strike] had too many linebacker chiefs and not enough linebacker indians.

If part of the problem was a philosophical coaching difference between Bates/Sanders and Moss... would it not be logical that maybe Moss couldn't coach up to his potential due to the rigid strains of the Bates Sanders Scheme?

I just think that if several people in the league are interested in Moss's services, then there must be something there. Maybe the riff between the defensive coaches came about because Moss didn't feel like his players were being used to the max of their potential??

Maybe Moss has a plan.

Maybe?

Maybe?

I sure hope he does, because it would appear that a LOT will be riding on that plan.

Personally, I don't think it's a big enough move. But I'll be very, very happy to be wrong about that.

dfosterf (26-Jun) : Fair enough, WPR. Thing is, I have been a long time advocate to at least have some inkling of the dynamics within the board.

Martha Careful (25-Jun) : I would have otherwise admirably served
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Also, no more provision for a write-in candidate, so Martha is off the table at least for this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
