This is a great linebacker.

This one, not so much.

If this game happened week two I don't think nearly much "doom gloom" would be spoken. The fact that we have waited something like 7 months for real life Packers football combined with getting thoroughly handled is what stings the most. The Packers just looked unprepared.

It was one game of a 16 game regular season. There is plenty of time for rookies and youngsters to to mature into better players and for this team to hit its stride.

It was a disappointing loss, but the keyword here is "a", meaning one.

Season is not over, it just didn't start as many of us hoped it would, however, some if not most expected a loss.

That said...we still got manhandled after 7 months to prepare. Some people have tried to spin the game being close until turnovers and such, but we still gave up 200 yards on the ground, Jones and Hawk still look awful, etc. Even Vic Ketchman who is paid to write stories with a green and gold pen acknowledged on Friday that Thursday demonstrated the gap currently there between the best in the league and the Packers.

Of course things could change. Although frustrating, errors in communication, dropped balls, avoiding the right side of the field in the passing game, and 10 on the field during Lynch's TD can all be corrected. However, personnel is much tougher to correct from Sept-January, and from my perspective that's one of the biggest issues Thursday illustrated, hence my concerns.

Now on top of that, Aaron is playing scared.

While there was plenty of doom and gloom to go around after Thursday's game, there were some bright spots. As a fan, I was extremely nervous to see Linsley starting at center against the #1 defense with zero work history with Rodgers. The kid held his own and if he can do that for a few more weeks, I'd hope Tretter becomes the back-up C/G. Other offensive bright spots were Bulaga (until his injury). We heard a lot of false promise from the coaching staff about seeing different players and a different team...Bulaga's held up. We are also lucky that his injury is a knee sprain and not something season-ending.

HHCD has already shown he is a step above what the Packers previously had at safety. Our secondary actually looked decent for the most part, minus not being able to cover Harvin and the complete failure of coverage on the gimmick college football play for the TD. In terms of covering Percy Harvin, this is where I do have one issue with Dom Capers. He had Morgan Burnett in man coverage on Percy Harvin more than once and he was burnt every single time. Why isn't Sam Shields in man coverage on their fastest, most dynamic player? Baffling. Tramon played really well. He was aggressive and made a play on the ball a few times. He also made some good tackles as well. I think his good play is being overlooked because the overall defense was so bad.

The interior of the front seven on defense is terrible. Regardless of what they do, this will be the worst and most exploited part of the defense all season unless changes are made. The Packers should really look into giving one of the young guys a shot over Jones. I'd say Hawk as well but being realistic, I know the Packers will not bench him. To me, Mike Daniels was the biggest disappointment because he had been talking so much over the entire training camp and all he did was come out and lay a turd.

As a fan, you can't expect your team to win them all. However, you can hope that the coaching staff has your team ready to play in a nationally televised game against the defending Super Bowl champs. This team was far from ready and as a fan, that was the upsetting thing because we heard so much talk about seeing a different team and how the team was ready and this was their best camp yet...etc etc.

He didn't see a ton of snaps but the guy seems like he's going to be a presence when he's out there and that's something we really needed.

It doesn't really matter how much time was put into preparing for a game. If a team is truly more talented, better coached, and has the best home field advantage in the league, it's going to show on game day. That's what makes a great team great. The Seahawks had that long to plan, too, and they are a better all around team. The result really wasn't that surprising. The Packers played worse than I expected, but I can't say I was surprised.
