Let's take a quick look at what just happened. Two backup offensive lineman going against the best defense in the league, a NT that didn't play a snap in preseason, and some very poorly timed penalties. We faced the best team in the league at the hardest place to play in the league.
That being said, our interior defense is weak and does not match up to our best opponents' athleticism (Seahawks, '9ers). Starting guys like Guion, Hawk, and Jones will not equate to a stand out defense. If it takes us being dominated one night at the beginning of the season to show that to our coaching staff- I'm all for it. (for the record I don't see any major change coming in this category for another 6 months)
Rodgers was off his game and seemed visibly nervous. IMO, it was like he thought he had to get his passes off as soon as the ball was in his hands. That led to indecisiveness and a lack of confidence. The pace of our first drive was beautiful. Their D put a pretty good grip on our running game which led to Rodgers being even more uncomfortable (along with the loss of Bulaga). Leaving Sherrod one-on-one with any DL from Seattle was a mistake but ingame scheme shifts are difficult, especially when half the offense isn't functioning.
It was a tough game, but you can't be so negative about it. The circumstances that dictated the second half aren't unalterable ones for the season, besides the interior D personnel. I am confident we will only get better and we will play Seattle again before February. Until then, ai'm excited to watch a pissed off Aaron Rodgers make some plays.
Thanks to pack93z for the sig!!!
