Behind Randall Cobb, rookie Jeff Janis was the only youngster to stand out. Days after a phenomenal red-zone catch over Sam Shields, Janis made a brilliant adjustment on a go-route to catch a deep pass over Casey Hayward in single coverage.

"I think one of my best attributes is being able to stretch the field and have the quarterback throw the ball downfield and make a play on the ball," Janis said. "That's what I'm trying to get done." Janis said he doesn't feel he's that far behind the other receivers despite missing the first 1-1/2 weeks of training camp due to a bout with shingles, and he's probably right.

While Kevin Dorsey, Myles White and Chris Harper have each had their moments in camp, drops and inconsistency have quelled their momentum. Dorsey dropped another pass Monday and White allowed a touchdown pass to sneak through his mitts in the final 2-minute session. The Packers have a fifth spot open in their receiving corps and the 6-foot-3, 219-pound Janis is closing. He hopes to play in Saturday's preseason game in St. Louis.

---Very excited about this kid. He has attributes none of our other guys come close to touching. How sweet it would be to have a Corey Bradford type again. I don't recall a guy other than Bradford who had the speed Janis possesses. It's been way too long without a guy that can just blow past people. What a much missed and needed dimension.

Hopeful this isn't just a temporary blip as it has been with many of the rooks.

I had hoped GB would be able to stash Janis on their PS for some additional depth. That is looking less likely. If he goes to the PS he will end up elsewhere. The bright side is that there is always another raw WR waiting to catch our imagination next year.

Also hope he sticks. While I take measurables with a grain of salt his are off the charts amazing.

Boykin
Janis
IR: Abbrederis
(Outside looking in: Harper, Dorsey, White, Gillett, Sheppard)

A shame Abbrederis is hurt but he did need to hit the weight room... I guess you would think a guy as weak as he was would've gotten injured at some point.

I look at Janis as being similar to Jordy, only completely raw. He played at a small school.

Jordy
Cobb
Adams
Janis
Dorsey
Boykin (squeaks by thanks the injury to Abbrederis.)

Can Janis field a punt cleanly?

He is getting less work than the younger guys because they know what he can do. He will probably still be third in line when all is said and done.

I think it's safe to say these are your 5 Packers WR's...

Cobb
Nelson
Adams
Boykin
Janis

Abbrederis would've made this a tough call to keep 6. Our 5 offers a nice mix of size, speed, jumping ability and good hands.

Safe to say Dorsey, Harper, White Gillett, Sheppard aren't making the 53.

Janis is hot right now... has been hot in practice and just goes fast forward for 6. There is no one else close to him in winning the 5th spot. Who can do what he can do or brings what he brings? An athletic marvel.

Unless he gets injured, I have him as a lock for this team.
Circular Arguments: They are a heck of an annoyance
Fan Shout
Mucky Tundra (5h) : Missed FG into a Lions TD; that'll do pig, that'll do
Mucky Tundra (5h) : That might be it for the Vikings
Mucky Tundra (6h) : Oh so the refs do know what intentional grounding is
Mucky Tundra (6h) : what the hell was that Goff?! Not much pressure and he just air mails it to Harrison
Mucky Tundra (6h) : They really need to to get rid of the auto first down for illegal contact
Martha Careful (6h) : watching the Vikings and Lions it's understandable why they swept the Packers. So much better product
Mucky Tundra (7h) : Even when GB got pressure he was throwing darts; vs no pressure on that last pass he just air mails an open guy
Zero2Cool (7h) : didn't have guys in his face ... pressure makes difference
Mucky Tundra (7h) : Where was this Darnold vs GB?
Mucky Tundra (7h) : BALL DON'T LIE
Mucky Tundra (7h) : how was that not a safety? Goff throws it at an offensive lineman
Mucky Tundra (7h) : Zero, I thought that was a given! ;)
Mucky Tundra (7h) : Zero I looked through earlier and noticed the same thing. Bonkers year. I just wonder if beast put any money on games
Zero2Cool (7h) : I'm hoping for BLOODBATH. Pummel one another.
Zero2Cool (7h) : 8 people in pick'em would have won any year with their total lol
Mucky Tundra (7h) : I'm rooting for the Lions to lose.
Mucky Tundra (7h) : God help me but I'm rooting for the Vikings to...Vikings to...Christ I can't say it
Zero2Cool (8h) : 4 td for Rodgers
Zero2Cool (9h) : Chiefs got shutout
Zero2Cool (9h) : Rodgers passes for 3rd TD. might be last game of an amazing career
Mucky Tundra (10h) : "The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry."
Zero2Cool (10h) : Owner ... love it
Zero2Cool (10h) : Mayo was the guy they groomed for HC and one of the reasons they let Bill go.
Mucky Tundra (10h) : Pats have the #4 pick, lots of cap space and Maye at QB; should fetch some attention
Mucky Tundra (10h) : Well that didn't take long; Jerod Mayo out as Patriots HC
Zero2Cool (11h) : I would expect it to be higher in favor of Eagles
Mucky Tundra (11h) : Thst line seems...generous
Zero2Cool (11h) : Eagles -3.5 over Packers in Wildcard Round
Mucky Tundra (12h) : Did it though? Pokes beat the Commanders on the road with Cooper Rush previously
Zero2Cool (19h) : That gives them their best chance
Mucky Tundra (5-Jan) : Cowboys starting Trey Lance at QB vs Commanders; GB vs Philly in the Wild Card incoming!
Mucky Tundra (4-Jan) : Stinks for Lloyd. Hoping he comes back strong for next year
Zero2Cool (3-Jan) : Packers placed Marshawn Lloyd on reserve non-football illness list
Zero2Cool (3-Jan) : Luke Getsy been helping Packers defense. He's former OC Bears/Raiders and our old QB coach
beast (2-Jan) : Thanks dfosterf, I'm still kicking myself for last week, as I forgot to change to pick Vikings and Lions... after putting in a holding spot.
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : First alternate: Elgton Jenkins Other alternates: Jordan Love, Kenny Clark, Keisean Nixon, Tucker Kraft, Josh Myers, Jaire Alexander
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : Pro Bowl still a thing? Guess Packers have three. Jacobs, Gary, McKinney.
dfosterf (2-Jan) : It's a mine field with all the players sitting, etc
dfosterf (2-Jan) : There was quite a bit of "chalk" matchups this year it seemed, but not this week coming up
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : Or we got better and by we I mean everyone except me
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : We have about six that by percent would have won nearly any season. I guess 2024 was predictable 🤷
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : You can check previous seasons. I quick did it and don't think anyone hit 70% before
dfosterf (2-Jan) : Hats off to the Beast
dfosterf (2-Jan) : I'm at 71.76% in pick 'em. 2nd place. Beast is at a flat 75% 9 games ahead. That 75% has got to be unprecedented this late in the season
beast (2-Jan) : I don't care deeply, just want some good entertaining games
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : BTW, not serious.
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : You don't care about it either!!!!
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : NIL and Portal killed college, no one cares about it.
Mucky Tundra (2-Jan) : outside of Texas-Arizona St, it's been a snoozefest
beast (2-Jan) : I expect Georgia will change that tomorrow, but we'll have to wait and see. If they do, then only Big 10 and SEC are left.
