I never had a problem with HOF. But I don't think he number should be retired.
I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

I sort of question the idea of completely retiring a number forever... I mean unless they allow 3 digits numbers for jerseys... then there are only 99 numbers (100 if they allow "00" as a number, I don't think they do, but don't know for sure)... and there are 90 training camp spots.

Either got to start repeating numbers some on offense and some on defense or get 3 digits, or stop retiring numbers at some point.

I prefer the idea of taking a number out for a certain period of time... say 20 years? maybe more... high enough teams don't do it often, but at the same time, they get to use all their numbers again at some point.

As far as Favre... it's gonna happen sooner or later... I think most Packers think... lets just get this over with already... or lets celebrate already... he had a great career... and while yes there was drama, at the same time, it's not like he killed anybody, or slept with an underage female... or won a championship for another team... and he brought the Vikings so close to a Super Bowl... and with one threw took it away from them... and made them all cry [grin1]

Yes all of it could of been handled better by all parties involved... but you know what... the Packers look like they could be pretty awesome this year, isn't that what really counts? 👍

And Favre was very entertaining... and made a lot of non-Packers fans even follow and enjoy watching Packers games 😄 ... now lets go out there... retie #4 ... and go get the Packers #5 Super Bowl ring [happy]

I think he most certainly should be a first ballot HOF player and I think he should have his number retired in Green Bay.

I didn't like his antics at the end.. and the divorce from the Packers was messy, but like almost every divorce both parties have a share of the blame.

But has there been a player that helped alter the state of this franchise more in the modern era? Be hard to argue.. even Reggie was partially drawn by #4. I think he simply deserves the honor to have his name and number on the ring. Easily. Plus for the majority of his career here, we couldn't ask for a more pro Packer player as the face of the franchise.

I would still love to sit and drink a beer with him and shoot the breeze for a while.

Personally I think this is perfect. With Favre set to have his number retired, Rodgers will get ticked off that people are looking towards next year and Favre and not this year with him. Rodgers+Motivation+Favre looming in the background=bend over and grab your ankles NFL!

In all seriousness, it's nice to finally put the the whole thing behind and move forward. Sure there's a tongue-in-check aspect to it but what can you do at this point?

Oops, forgot to copy and paste it first time around. Here it is.

There are a lot of players that mean or meant a lot to their team on the field with their performance and many of them may have been better than Favre but very few players ever meant as much to their team or to the league in an all around way as Favre.

He may not have been as good of a leader as Bart Starr or even as good of a QB and he may not have been the biggest piece of the Packers rebirth in the 90's (Reggie White?) but lets face it, he was the Green Bay Packers for a long time and for a long time he was the NFL.

When NFL fans think Packers teams they will probably always think the Lombardi years but those were just that, teams. Yes there were a lot of good players as individuals but I think people remember the teams first. With the Packers of the Ron Wolf era that is not so much the case. The Packers of the 90s were Brett Favre, Reggie White and a bunch of other guys. Love him or hate him, TD master or interception king, hero or goat, very few players brought as much attention to the NFL or their team as Favre. The only ones who I can think of off the top of my head was Namath and maybe P Manning now. I don't mean that there aren't stars who garner attention there certainly were and still are (Rice, Payton, LT for a few more recent ones) but these guys were superstars on the field and comparatively quiet off the field. No one made people wonder "what did he do today" as much as or for as long as Favre did. I also think his style of play brought more young viewers to the NFL than almost anyone else.

There are probably better Packers players who have donned the uniform over the years but IMO the face of the Green Bay Packers, for now, is Brett Favre. White and Starr certainly deserve consideration but I don't think any of them garnered the recognition or the attention that Favre got.

He deserves to be in the Packers HOF at the soonest possible moment and he deserves to be a unanimous first ballot NFL hall of famer and if you are not opposed to retired numbers on some metaphysical spiritual other worldly plane Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin he deserve to have has number as a Green Bay Packer retired.

And I don't even particularly like the guy.

I was mad with all the crap he pulled at the end, but I can't throw out all the fun years he gave us as Packer fans after the horrible 1970's and 80's.
He played hard for us, and I'd cheer for him now as I did when he was our QB.
As was already said, what a blast it would be to sit and talk with him!
I'm looking forward to the number retiring ceremony. He earned it.

Martha Careful (21-Dec) : I think MLF want Love to look past the end half issues, and feel good about his play. Our coaches generally keep a very positive tone.
beast (21-Dec) : I think a great running game will do that for most QBs
packerfanoutwest (21-Dec) : Coach Matt LaFleur has said quarterback Jordan Love is playing the best football of his career.
beast (21-Dec) : Oh, that's how you keep beating buckeye, with cheating

Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : Or if KC needs to win for the #1 seed
Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : Right now it looks like the only prime worthy games are Det-Minny and KC-Denver (if Denver can clinch a wild card spot)
Mucky Tundra (20-Dec) : The entirety of week 18 being listed as flex is weird
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : Matt LaFleur today says unequivocally "Ted Thompson had nothing to do with the drafting of Jordan Love."

Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : LaFleur "opportunity that Ted Thompson thought was too good to pass up"
Zero2Cool (19-Dec) : Jordan Love pick was Ted Thompson's idea.

Mucky Tundra (18-Dec) : The real lie is how beast capitalized his name in his message while it's normally spelled with
packerfanoutwest (18-Dec) : haha that's a lie
beast (17-Dec) : Despite what lies other might tell, Beast didn't hate the Winter Warnings, it felt refreshing to Beast for some reason.
Zero2Cool (17-Dec) : whiteout uniforms in general are pretty lame and weak. NFL greed at it's worst
Martha Careful (17-Dec) : The Viking uniforms, the whiteout uniforms specifically absolutely suck
beast (17-Dec) : Thanks Zero2Cool, looks a lot better now
beast (17-Dec) : Seems like someone has a crush on me, can't stop talking about me
Zero2Cool (17-Dec) : Should be gooder now. The forum default theme went to goofy land.
Zero2Cool (17-Dec) : What the hell
packerfanoutwest (17-Dec) : yeah beast hates the Winter Warning Unies
Mucky Tundra (16-Dec) : Okay I'm glad to know it's not just something happening to me lol
Mucky Tundra (16-Dec) : Zero, did you copy the Packers uniforms from last night and white out the board?
beast (16-Dec) : Oh crap, is the board going to the Winter Warning Uniforms too?!? It's all white on white right now!
Zero2Cool (16-Dec) : WR Odell Beckham Jr is officially a free agent after clearing waivers.
Zero2Cool (16-Dec) : Packers are 6th in sacks.
Zero2Cool (16-Dec) : RB David Montgomery will undergo season-ending knee surgery.
Mucky Tundra (16-Dec) : Dan Campbell on onside kick with 12 minutes left: In hindsight, wish I didn’t do that
