With Denver canning Shanahan (sp?) I wonder if the new guy will run a Power running scheme and some of those OL be available for us to pick up.

Probably not a chance, but what the hell, I'm bored and thought I'd throw it out there.

Actually... if they retool the offensive staff, which they are trying to retain.. but if they choose to dump some of that staff.. why not import the oline coach from there.. someone that knows the intimate details of a true ZBS.. someone that could help Campen and Fonteno along.

That could be helpful in our cluster fudge of blended scheme.

The GB Press Gazette said we are moving away from that scheme to a more traditional ZBS without the Gibbs funky cutblocks.

So I don't think we have a use for them either.

Let's take Shanahan so Rodgers can become the next Elway.

Or the next Brian Griese. Or the next Jake Plummer.

Sorry, I couldn't resist that one.

I was only joking there, please don't take my post seriously. I guess that's due to the fact I never use smilies.

With all due respect, if we bring in someone from Denver to coach the o-line, fire Campen and Fonteno.

You've got Campen, Fonteno, Philbin... three coaches who specialize in OL coaching. Adding another might end up being a case of too many chefs in the kitchen, so to speak.

Stick to a couple of guys, Philbin and coach X to coach the o-line. Maybe have an assistant coach if necessary, but no need.

Hm, not sure I read them saying that. Actually unless they've got sources really deep inside the Packers, they shouldn't have made such a bold claim.

During his season ending Press Conference, MM said:

1) They run a lot of variation, and while they lump it all together in "Zone Blocking" a lot of it is not the traditional (aka Alex Gibbs) version of tons of cut blocking.

2) From 2006 onwards, the Packers have developed unique schemes in their "Zone Blocking" approach that are more complex than what they ran in 2006. Scheme development will happen again, and they will visit some of the more complex things they ask their O-linemen to do.

If anything, MM hinted that perhaps it was time for all involved with the o-line (players and coaches) to go back to a more simplistic approach; keep things simple enough that they are still effective, but not overly complex.

I personally got the sense that MM was alluding a little bit to the need for this team just not think so much overall during the game, but rather go out and play.
