It will be interesting to see if this kid wants to validate the Packers stunning him with where they selected him and prove he was worth it or if he just slums it.

Khyri Thornton was quick to admit it. The defensive lineman was surprised — perhaps even stunned — when the Green Bay Packers called his name with the first of their two third-round draft picks in the NFL draft.

This takes me back to when Mike "sleepy" Sherman drafted big ol' James Lee out of Oregon State. That guy was stunned he was drafted by us, as he wasn't expecting to be drafted, but he was only a 5th rounder. He never did diddly.

Hoping for better this time.

The great Ted Thompson deemed you too valuable to take a chance on letting you get past that 1st of his 3rd round picks.

We will totally dismiss the fact that unlike ANY of your contemporaries, you were selected far BEFORE you THOUGHT YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN.

That Ted is brilliant, Khyri. He's got you figured out better than you do.

This is the same situation as Mike Neal. Nobody expected him to be drafted as early as he was. Mike has been somewhat disappointing, but has had a lot of nagging injuries. We'll see what Khyri is all about soon enough.

If you haven't seen this guy, go look at the clip of the rooks first day at Packers.com... He is literally a combo of Rick James and Arsenio Hall.

Apparently this guy has played every position on the D line. That has value. Now to see which position he plays best 🙂
