I'm confused. Who's "he"? Favre, Mangini, Jones, Tannenbaum?

Talking about Brett.

It does not matter what the team is saying.

Brett can not hear it from his personal office away from the locker room.

Brett to Minn via Free Agency in 2009, the jets players don't want him there (maybe his plan all along) the new coach can decide if they keep him and maybe there is a plan already to just release him and he can goto Minn without the Jets losing anything. Just something to throw out there.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be šŸ™‚ (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I would say, why would the Jets release Favre without compensation, but then I remember that they released Pennington without compensation. Still, I find it hard to believe the Vikings would pick Favre up even were he available. I think they're going to be working on developing a new QB prospect rather than delaying that another year with a 40-year-old, $13 million quarterback.

Favre now realizes what it's like to play for a town in which you are not a legend. Tough.

The way Brett is now reminds me of Elvis in his last days. A shadow of the old self.

The Favre forum is not working for me right now, so I have to post this here. It is the most interesting piece of news I've heard today, and I think it's worthy of discussion. Actually it is several pieces of news. Some Jets players are really dumping on Favre now. Here are a few examples that I've pasted from articles. The first is from an unnamed Jets player:

After the Jets traded for Favre Aug. 6, the sure Hall of Famer made no effort to ingratiate himself with the already assembled team, the veteran said. He said Favre spent most of his down time at the practice facility in an office specially designated for him near the equipment room, not with teammates in the locker room, even after the media departed.

"He never socialized with us, never went to dinner with anyone," the player said. Asked to describe Favre in a word, he said: "Distant."

Here's the full article:
http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2009/01/01/thomas-jones-calls-out-brett-favre-another-teammate-calls-him/

Here's what Jets RB Thomas Jones had to say:

"We're a team and we win together ... but at the same time, you can't turn the ball over and expect to win," Jones said in a videotaped studio interview. "The other day, the three interceptions really hurt us. I mean, that's just reality. If I were to sit here and say, 'Oh, man, it's okay,' that's not reality.

"The reality is, you throw interceptions, I'm (ticked) off, I don't like it. You know what I'm saying? I don't like it, I know everybody else on the team doesn't like it."

At that point, the show's host, Angie Martinez, asked the AFC's leading rusher if teammates start to look "funny style" at a player that makes that many mistakes.

"If somebody is not playing well, they need to come out of the game," Jones replied. "You're jeopardizing the whole team because you're having a bad day. To me, that's not fair to everybody else. You're not the only one on the team."

"So it gets like that?" Martinez interjected.

"It definitely gets like that," Jones said. "You're playing to win, you're playing for the Super Bowl. That's what you do all this work for ... So when you get to the wire and somebody is just giving the game up, I mean, it's just not (fair)."

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/2008/12/31/2008-12-31_thomas_jones_blasts_brett_favre_for_inte.html

And here's another quote from an anomymous teammate, about Eric Mangini's handling of Favre:

A TV report over the weekend said Mangini embarrassed Favre in meetings, but "that report was full of (garbage)," one player said. "He never called him out. If anything, he yelled at the receivers for not breaking up the passes. He'd just throw 'em up, and there was no accountability."

It's a sad ending to his career, if this is the way it ends. I loved the guy when he played for us, but I thought his head got too big at the end. This appears to be true.

Thats one of the problems. Favre pretty much had his way here, until Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy showed up. He's USED to being coddled. Then he goes to a team, where he knows almost no one, and HAD to feel out of place. And all the Jets players don't have a close relationship with Favre, and look at him as the "new kid" there, even though he's old.
THEY expect him to EARN their respect. Which it sounds like he didn't go out of his way to do. And remember, he was like that here the last few years, when the last of his buddies from the super bowl years retired.

It has to be hard for him, being in unfamiliar teritory. So i can understand him not being outgoing. But then you have to accept that you probably arn't gonna fit in real well if you don't make at least an attempt to get to know the guys on your new team.
