I have no clue how the final roster is going to be at the end but here's some guys I have my eye on to see if they're worthy of a spot on the 53...

Jeff Janis-WR
Adrian Hubbard-LB
LaDarius Perkins-RB
Tanner Miller-S
Jake Doughty-LB
James Nixon-CB
Joe Thomas-LB
Kevin Dorsey-WR

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

I think you meant to strike through Michael Hill at RB in your OP. No way that guy is making the team.

Unfortunately none of the cuts was really difficult to make so that means that any injury will put us in a thin position and the depth is not specially good this year 😞

BTW, I've seriously thought of keeping only 7 DL, cutting Worthy and keeping the DB Goodson.

Bush on the other hand is a mistake waiting to happen, always in the worst moments. Even on special teams, too many penalties, too many mistakes. IMO he is a liability.

Just some thoughts and not being critical of the work here.

1) I don't see keeping two true Centers AND a long snapper. If Linsley shows potential at Center and long snapper Goode is gone.

2) Versatile players like Hyde may have to make a Banjo or Richardson expendable.

3) I think it's a real chess game with who ends up on a practice squad. Personally, I see more teams interested in Rogers or Abbredaris (added value as a return guy),
vs. White or Dorsey. When you have to bring a player from PC to Roster I don't see Dorsey or White having the juice to prompt that but could see the other two getting gobbled up.

3) I don't see both Bush and Goodson making the final roster. Just no room for a project AND pretty much ST only player.

4) You got this team very young very fast on the defensive front other than Peppers. Guion, Worthy, and Raji all gone would be exactly the opposite of the experience Capers has been campaigning for. You have Boyd, Daniels, Thornton, Jones , Pennel. Seems like a huge leap of faith on the youth front and just kind of jumps out at me as very risky.

Again, not meant to be critical just initial thoughts on the list of names and how I see it.

It's probably Tretters job to lose, but he can also play other positions, Mike said they want Linsley to only play Center, unless he absolutely stinks it up, he is going to make the team.

I thought about the LS position, again until Linsley can show he can do the job, not smart to dump your veteran right away. Linsley was a G/T early in College, so he does have some versatility there.

I originally had Banjo cut, but the guy has grown every year he has been with The Packers, is a good ST player, and with the addition of Ha Ha, I believe Hyde will stay at Corner.

Normally a 3rd round pick is lock for a position on the 53 man roster, but Rogers is a project, there might be interest in him from other teams, but Ted can protect him by signing him to a contract that is more than just a PS contract, and he always has an option to put him on the 53 man roster if need be.
Abbredaris hopefully will end up as a Packer for a long time, there's a good chance he will beat out White or Dorsey, but at this point I see him going to the PS.

House was the toughest cut, but there is only so many spaces and I see him as the odd man out.

Bush has one more year on his contract, this will probably be his last in Green Bay, these Special Teams Aces seem expendable until they are not there and The Team loses because they give up a huge punt or kickoff return.
Also bush has shown the last couple of years he can play inthe nickel/dime and be effective, it's when he is forced to fill in for a starter who is injured that he gets exposed.

I don't know why, but I just don't think Ted and Mike have a lot of faith that Raji will ever come back to his 2010 level, he can be cut with very little loss to the salary cap, same with Guion, I said in another thread I thought he was signed as security in case the packers didn't get who they wanted in the draft.

Seems every year 1 or 2 UDFA's make the team, I looked them over and chose Pennel.

This is all in fun, hell I didn't get 1 pick right the whole weekend when trying to draft, so I won't be too upset if I am completely wrong with my picks here.

I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!

I, for one, would like to see the end of Jarrett Bush...he's been hanging on for years now. We can't seem to find a guy to replace him and that's really hard to believe to me.

Bush offers nothing on defense. I have a sinking feeling every single time I see him trot out there in our secondary. A big play for the offense is almost sure to happen wherever he goes. How he made such a big play in the SuperBowl is still mindboggling to me.

If Goodson can play ST reasonably well, I don't see how Bush sticks this time around.

The idea of getting rid of Goode is great, in theory, as who wants to use a roster spot on that? However, he's been so automatic over the years, that is something Linsley better be perfect at or Goode will stick around again. One bad snap in pre-season, by Linsley, and I don't think Ted Thompson will be comfortable moving on from Goode.

Greg Gabriel at National Football Post thinks Linsley will be our starting center. That'll be a big story in camp about who gets to snap the ball to Aaron and will Rodgers like his butt height and sweat? 😆

Two new additions to my final 53 prediction. Demetri Goodson at CB and Jake Doughty at ILB... Here's a nice bit on Doughty:

2013 ALL-MOUNTAIN WEST FIRST TEAM (COACHES/MEDIA): LB Jake Doughty, Sr., Utah State,...Doughty, a 6-0, 234-pound senior linebacker from Draper, Utah (Juan Diego HS) ranks third in the Mountain West and tied for ninth in the nation in tackles (10.8 pg). On the season, Doughty leads the team with 140 tackles and four quarterback hurries and is third on the team with his 13 tackles for loss. He also had three pass breakups, two sacks, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery this year that he returned 86 yards for a touchdown, not to mention nine double-digit tackle outings. - Utah State football

http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=97423&draftyear=2014&genpos=ILB

I figure Mulumba might show a bit more promise than Palmer, and both are outside guys, so Mulumba stays.

Jake Doughty plays ILB, and he has had a good amount of success playing the position. He had 9 double digit tackle games for Utah State. Also has proven numbers for the intangibles that we look for at the position with hurries, sacks, passes defensed, INTs, FFs and FRs. 140 tackles is nothing to sneeze at. Chris Borland had 112 last year, but he had more solo tackles... Doughty had very similar #s in 2013 to Borland and his numbers are way better than those of Christian Jones CHI UDFA, Max Bullough HOU UDFA, Yawin Smallwood ATL 253, and Lamin Barrow DEN 156 - some of the bigger names from the 2014 draft. Shane Skov went to SF as a UDFA. Skov's 40 time is 5.09. Doughty's 40 time is 4.5 and he had 31 more tackles and the same TFL.

Doughty is kind of a dark horse, but I think he could make it as a decent backup ILB. It is the one position where we could use a bit more depth, and we can use Brad Jone's cap savings to throw at re-signing Nelson and Cobb. Plus, I want to see Doughty take out the Kicker on the next onsides kick we face...

😆

uffda, I think we have to keep Jarrett Bush around. He is just too good on STs. And, Goode has maintained a solid spot as a specialist for years, but if Linsley can do that job, he could make Goode expendable and save us an important roster spot. It would go against their normal mindset for specialists, but maybe that actually happens this year.
