We've added some players. Somebody from last season won't make it.

I see Raji, Worthy, Brad Jones and Nate Palmer as having the toughest times hanging on. Maybe even Mulumba.

What do you think?

Am I wrong to include Raji?

I also don't see Jones being cut. He's far from being as bad as everyone seems to claim here. Next to that, they gave Bradford an OLB number and they haven't announced a position switch. While I asumed they'd make him an ILB, because he has all the tools and it is a position of need - somewhat -, it seems he's playing OLB for as far as I know at the moment.

In that case, I don't see who beats him out. There's only Lattimore and special teamers behind him.

I see Guion, Worthy, Palmer, Mulumba and one of Lattimore/Barrington as the most at risk. Mulumba only if he fails to make a decent 2nd year jump.

Thompson does not part with 1st round picks without a lot of chances at redemption, which I think is smart. But, I wonder if this staff and a changing emphasis in our D won't make him expendable with all the youth that was recently drafted and signed.

I'm a Raji fan, and I hope he can recapture some of his 2010 season magic.

I totally disagree on Brad Jones. He has few instincts for the LB position. Inside or outside. He is a 4-3 edge rusher, and completely out of position in GB. That's my view anyway.

We're not going to have to cut too many from the front 7. We carried 17 guys on our front 7 after final cutdown last year. 8 DL and 9 LB.

After waiving Chase Thomas, today, we have 19 spots allocated to the front 7. 8 DL and 11 LB. (counting Neal as DE and Peppers as LB)

So, if we keep the same number only 2 guys need to go... one likely from DL and one from LB. This isn't counting any UDFA's who may crash the party and cause more cuts. Could keep all DL and waive 2 LB's.

Guion is likely on DL... Palmer from LB.

Palmer doesn't have much of a chance in my opinion. Perhaps a candidate to move inside. I have been thinking about this season carrying more LBs and cross training them to move them around. I know the coaches are cooking up something. I just don't know what it is.

Palmer was Kevin Greene's guy... He lobbied hard for us to draft him. He's showed little and Greene is gone so Palmer better explode or he's done.

We don't mind cutting guys we added in FA like Anthony Hargrove from the Saints. Guion isn't one of ours so he's likely to be the DL unless he's terrific and someone else is brutal.
Ted Thompson would LOVE to get rid of Raji's 4 million. 500k in signing bonus...so we'd take that as a hit if we let him go. I could see it happening if he's as brutal as he was last year. Why keep him and waste 3.5 million if you can get similar from Boyd/Thornton/Guion? Hopefully 2 of those guys show they can handle nose. I'd rather cut BJ for the $. Guion would cost nearly 300k to ditch. So, only about 200k between letting him go vs. Raji, but Guion only costs us a little over a mil. BJ better show he's as or more effective than Guion or he'll be the guy on the street.

Hawk is getting closer to being able to move on from financially speaking...he should squeeze one more year out of us, but I'll bet this is his last in Green Bay.

OT: If we can get a young CB to show something, Tramon is finished this year. We're going to eat 9.5 million of our cap on him? I can't wait to move on from him. I'll eat the 2 million and gladly move on.

Count as me as someone who will miss Tramon and his leadership in the DB room. Who takes his place I wonder?

I cannot see Tramon leaving this season. No way. But, this is just front 7... Maybe it shouldn't be...

I changed the thread title. Who from 2013 roster do you not see making this Packers team?

He never really came back after that pinched nerve vs. the Saints in the season opener a few years ago. His money would be very helpful to extending Cobb and or Nelson. We'll have to see how that plays out in TC and pre-season. Hopefully, one of our young bucks plays really well. Hayward lacks the great speed but he's so instinctive and smart it would interesting to see if he could play on the outside. Hyde is also a possibility out there. I have my eye on Nixon and I guess the new guy, Goodson.

I definitely will think more about this once mini camps are done. With the influx of all this drafted and undrafted players it is insanity right now. Maybe we find some gems in there. That is where my focus is as a fan right now. I just want our backups to show better this pre-season. Last year I just wasn't feeling it which was why I skipped my usual yearly trip to green bay.

I hope Bush finally sees the axe.

I also see MD Jennings and McMillan out.

I don't see any really difficult cuts to make and that means our depth is not very good.
I'm totally energized by having Julius in the team we don't have depth but we do have talent so we need a lucky break from injuries.

I've read more than one person say they think Worthy is in danger of being cut? Why? He's barely had an opportunity after ripping up his knee. He will get a long long look before we move on from him. Not many 2nd rounders are just jettisoned especially due to injury so early in their careers. Give Jerel a chance...he was non descript his rookie year but that position takes time.

I see Boykin, White and possibly Dorsey being gone on offense. Ryan Taylor, maybe Stoneburner if he doesn't show he can play.

On D, I'd like to see House take a step forward. He played tough last year, but also gave up some plays. He's got good size, but he's a little stiff. Chris Banjo and Sean Richardson could go too. I expect Hyde to back up S and then a Ted Thompson gem to backup the 4th S spot.

Dline will be competitive. It's not looking like Pickett or Jolly will be back. I still like Worthy. He needs to make the team, but he gets the benefit of the doubt at least this year. Probably next year too, because the knee will need a year (as they say) before it's "right" again.

Palmer could be moved inside. That's probably his best shot to make the team, imo.

I'm as much against Raji as anybody, and I don't expect to see him cut. They've seen him at his worst and still re-signed him. I actually hold out hope for a slight improvement if he is asked to do more than occupy space.

I wish Brad Jones would be cut, but I really don't expect that either. I think Bradford moves inside and takes his spot, but he hangs on another season.

I also think Tramon stays - he still is more than decent when healthy.

D-Line: Pickett (if he's not considered gone already), Guion, and maybe Jolly go.

LB: Palmer and maybe Lattimore

DB: Richardson and probably Banjo replaced by rookies

O-Line: Gerhart

TE: Finley (if he even counts), maybe Stoneburner, maybe even Bostick. I did NOT exoect a TE to be drafted, but since they did, Rodgers could steal the spot of one of those two.

WR: White, Dorsey, Harper, several others I can't even think of the name. I figured at least one of those would make the team and no WR would be drafted. Ted obviously saw that differently.

QB: I'm thinking Tolzien clearly emerges, and Flynn is let go.

Also, supposedly Linsley can long snap. I'd like to see him do good enough to replace Goode and free up a roster spot.

Answer to this starts with "who have we added":

Defense:
Line and linebackers
New: Peppers, Guion, Thornton, Bradford, Hubbard.
Gone: Worthy, Pickett, Mulumba, Palmer, Barrington.

Backs:
New: Clinton-Dix, Goodson (practice squad).
Gone: House.

Offense:
Line:
New: Linsley
Gone: Gerhart

WR:(+0)
New: Adams, Abbrederis, Janis (PS)
Gone: Dorsey, White.

TE:
New: Rodgers, Lyerla, player as yet unindentified
Gone: Bostick, Stoneburner, Taylor

RB:
New: Liana (PS), Neal, Perkins
Gone: Starks, Franklin

QB:
No changes.

Players I'd like to see gone, but who won't since there won't be anything better: B. Jones, B J Raji,

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
