... watching the draft or reading about it in the fan forums afterwards.

I don't even think there are as many opposing predictions of doom and gloom or happy days ahead following a presidential election.

Its like which Sports Illustrated issue is better the swimsuit issue or the one after it where everyone writes letters complaining about it.

OK so its not exactly like that. The swimsuit issue is definitely better but the letter issue is also pretty damned entertaining.. Its almost about as much fun as you can have reading letters out of a magazine.

Taking this perspective it is more fun to go the the boards for your rivals and read their gloom and doom posts about the players they team selected.

Yeah I get if you dont like a particular pick or whatever but getting all depressed over players you have admittedly never watched and know nothing about other than what some draft guru website says is pretty weak

Very few picks got that kind of treatment. Ted got that on every single one. FWIW, of course. I'm talking about McShay, Kiper, Polian, Dilfer... Rave reviews for every Ted pick.

Couldn't tell if it was more about the player or Ted overall, but they all explained the high points of the selections. They knew what we were getting.

I know I was staggered day 2, because I dint know a damn thing about any of them.

I like when we pick players I have never heard of personally. Its fun to see the differences between what nfl teams think about guys and what the internet thought. I always get a kick out of people "knowing" when players would be available later in the draft too.

I didn't watch any coverage so I didn't experience any of the gushing over Teds picks but it leads me to think one of two things. Either these guys are really big Ted Thompson fans and he can do no wrong OR Ted really knows what he is doing and is getting some great players. I hope it is the latter.

It is interesting that you didn't feel other GMs getting the same love however. My feelings on these post draft reports are that it seems for the most part they are too generous. After reading some of the breakdowns you wonder why this guy wasn't a first rounder they make him sound so good. Sometimes you will read a bad one that essentially says "what the hell was he thinking" but not nearly as often as the more positive ones.

dfosterf (10h) : Meathead "journalists" skip this, concentrating on operational revenue when convenient. They switch when net revenue is more favorable.

Mucky Tundra (12h) : also, no bueno when a guy starts getting concussions right off the bat in his career
Zero2Cool (12h) : Concussion is worse. Banks probably vet off day via back booboo claim
