Packers selected Fresno State WR Davante Adams with the No. 53 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
Adams (6-foot 7/8, 212) left school after his redshirt sophomore year, when he led the nation in receptions (131) and touchdown catches (24) as Derek Carr's go-to receiver. Despite lacking elite long speed (4.54), Adams is a plus athlete (39.5-inch vertical) with high-pointing ability in traffic. He's drawn Michael Crabtree and Keenan Allen comparisons as a possession target with top-notch ball skills who excels after the catch. Football analytics suggest younger prospects offer higher NFL ceilings, and Adams won't turn 22 until late December. Adams' landing spot doesn't appear perfect on paper due to Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, and Jarrett Boykin's presence, but he's good enough to ascend the depth chart.

Troy Nicklas (picked ahead of ours) would have given us 5x the value we get from this turd.

I thought I put out a 6'4" prerequisite on our receiver this year. Watching his reel the thing that stood out was his very good hands. He looked really happy to be coming to Green Bay, and hopefully Zero can do aerobics with that smoking significant other he was sucking face with.

Comparing him to Jones was insulting. This guy can catch, just curious if he can win the 3rd WR spot or will he be the 4th. Boykins is no slouch.

I'm not pleased that we drafted a WR at this point. I'm not real pleased with this particular guy. He is, however, a clone of James Jones who should be more reliable at not dropping the ball. This pick will look good as time goes by because of Aaron Rodgers. I agree, however, with those who say we coulda done better with a taller and/or faster receiver.

Now let's get back to drafting for NEEDS. It seems like Chris Borland time, along with another Safety before the night is over.

Ted wanted a TE, but this was his fallback.

I had Moncrief rated higher on my board, but I like this guy. Lots of steak!

Love this guy. Caught everything. Reliable guy. Aaron will love him even if the fans don't initially.

I was clamoring for this guy 5-10 picks before we came up, so I'm thrilled. Huge production, great hands catcher... reminds me a little bit of Greg Jennings coming out of college.

This pick is more depressing than Dix in Round 1. A slow, not tall, WR in a draft filled with guys with all kinds of excellent skill sets. Ted Thompson finds the one who is just okay.

People keep thinking Green bay is so great at WR selections, but half our scouting department now works for other teams. Let's see how this one turns out. It is no fun coming across as negative but I HATE this pick and don't like the one in 1st round.

Not sure I want to watch the rest of this fiasco....it's so disappointing...however, you never really know until you know how these guys are going to fit. I just don't know why you don't take a guy with speed when that is what you really lack on offense. Would love to hear the thought process on that.

I'll predict this today... He'll be the WR version of Alex Green in our offense.

C'mon over. I'll fill a bowl for you, pour you a dozen shots of the finest small batch tequila, and then you may feel better...

How can you doubt a Ted decision at WR this early? There were 3 WRs with 1-grade hands, meaning tops. Adams is one of them.

beast (26m) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (27m) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (28m) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (4h) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (4h) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (4h) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (6h) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (6h) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (7h) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (9h) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (10h) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (17h) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (18h) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (18h) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (18h) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (18h) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (18h) : Game not over yet
beast (19h) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (19h) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (19h) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (19h) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (20h) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21h) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21h) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21h) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21h) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21h) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21h) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (23h) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (23h) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : what's so funny?
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Bears are finalizing a deal to hire Ben Johnson as their head coach. (via @tompelissero )
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : Looks like Lions OC Ben Johnson is going to be the Bears coach
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : TD but another failed 2 pt conversion!
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : Ravens still alive, but barely
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : Or not...BUT THAT CATCH BY NACUA
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : WE MAY HAVE BEEN PREMATURE KANATA
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : Time to make dinner
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : Ouch!!!! Dagger for the Eagles
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : DAGGER
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : pass plays
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : Seems some of their passes are too deep. Reminds me of MLF as well.
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : Oren Burks with a clutch pass break up...I will now light myself on fire
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : a run on 2nd down and 17 from McVay? So that's where MLF gets it from!
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : Do or die time for the Rams
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : Kicking field goals are impressive
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : Oh that might be a backbreaker
Mucky Tundra (19-Jan) : That's what I thought too, just wasn't sure
TheKanataThrilla (19-Jan) : Kicking doesn't make much sense
