I'd go nose tackle and safety if I had to choose two of the three and the quality of the players we are picking up are equal.

At nose tackle, Raji might find his form from 2010 and deliver what we need. If he doesn't or if he gets hurt, we don't really have another true nose tackle. Boyd is small for nose tackle, but could play in a pinch. Johnny Jolly could do it IF he returns healthy. As it currently stands, I just don't feel comfortable with the contingency plan if Raji doesn't pan out.

Safety was our worst position last year. We know Burnett can be a competent player but was far from it last year. Maybe one of Hyde, Richardson or Banjo will step up at the other safety position and be someone we can rely on. I'm hoping that will be the case but I'd feel a lot better with another option in the mix.

At least at inside linebacker, we have Hawk playing consistently. I look at Lattimore and Barrington as two possibilities that could possibly unseat Jones as the full time starter. I'd like to see another option alongside Hawk but I'm more confident here than the other two spots.

All that said, you take the best player on the board.

Hell now even your personal attacks are as weak as your knowledge of football.

I agree with Wade and most others, S and ILB are The Packers biggest needs this year.

I also know that the ILB position is not deep in this draft, there's a good chance Mosley will be there at 21, the big question is does Ted think he is BPA at 21?

Borland , Zumwalt, Skov, and Smallwood will all be available 3rd - 4th rnd, maybe Ted waits till then.
I don't see any of those players being ready to unseat Brad Jones let alone A.J Hawk this year.

I said it last year, and will say it again, JUST TO YOU, so you don't keep spreading YOUR BIGGEST LIE about me.

I believe Ted thought and still thinks he drafted Hawks replacement last year in Barrington, was a shame he was injured, he might have been ready this year, now it looks like it will be 2015.

Of course since you have been telling everyone who will listen on this forum for years now, and have most believing that I get all upset and think I have to defend A.J. Hawk every time someone says he sucks, I am sure you will twist this post into another "just because Hawk went to OSU, buckeye's getting upset" post.

Try a little harder next time will you? This is so disappointing, I expected better from one who comes from his self-named little club, and is proud to call himself the forums biggest ass.

😆 😆 😆 😆

Interesting piece at JSO about this very subjected expanded to all positions:

http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/safety-among-packers-needs-for-draft-b99260527z1-257827981.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Of note, this execuctive (presumably from another team) did NOT think ILB and NT was a big need at all, especially NT. Here's what was said about the 3 choices:

Nose tackle: "Signing (Letroy) Guion tells you they're not picking anybody else. They've got enough where they feel there's actual competition. That's what you need."

Inside linebacker: "They could add another guy to the mix mid-round that could compete for a future starting role. I don't see them taking one in the first round."

Safety: "(Mike) McCarthy said that about (Micah) Hyde because they have a potential void at free safety. Just looking at it, it's the thinnest position they have on the whole roster. When McCarthy says Hyde will be a consideration, I know right where they're looking. Free safety. Because he's a corner."

Here is the executive's priority ranking:

"No. 1 need is free safety," said the executive. "No. 2 is pass rusher. No. 3 is receiver, which includes the tight end. Those are their top four needs.

---- Pass rusher is not what many have touted as a need for us. I do agree WR and TE is a much bigger need than many other positions on this team.

The "Hyde to Safety" talk very well could be to hide (no pun intended) their hand on the fact that they're desperate to grab a S up high. Wouldn't surprise me. How can you have ZERO interceptions from your S position and not address it?

Not sure why he thinks Guion's addition sets them there at NT? Curious.

So, the exec would seem to favor S and ILB but doesn't think ILB is that big of a need seeing OLB, WR and TE as bigger needs. I gotta agree with that part.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

I also found it curious that outside linebacker/pash rusher was a need in the guys article when Matthews, Peppers, Perry, Neal, Mulumba and Palmer might be our deepest rotation on defense outside of maybe corner. In terms of draft strategy, he did phrase it as taking someone if they fell, which I agree with (take best player and you know Peppers will need to be replaced in a few years). That said, one of the arguments was that we needed another Matthews, and that Peppers wasn't at Matthews level. Well, having another Matthews would be great but how many teams have two pass rushers of the same calibre or better as Matthews?

Otherwise, interesting commentary.

We might be fine at NT with Josh Boyd in his 2nd season, and Pickett floating out there if Ted really feels a need to sign somebody after the draft.

Not many real NTs in this draft.

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024

dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately

Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
