When I was a kid I wanted a ball so bad. I would take my glove and hope one came my way. Naturally it would have killed me if it did. I would tell my dad that I wanted to catch a home run. He pointed out that we were in foul territory so there was no way for me to get one. I always envied the people sitting in the OF and wished we were out there too. I begged Dad to get tickets out there next year. (1 game a year only.) He would say these are better seats or that he would see. Never made it there with my dad but I have sat out there with my kids.
Then I got older and thought it would be dorky to have a glove so I took my chances and hoped one didn't come screaming at me.
Later I had my kids take their gloves to the game and I decided to throw myself in front of them if a rocket came at them.
Now when I go to a game I look around to see where the young kids are sitting. Should I ever get a ball I will get it to a little one.
I have to laugh when I hear the tv or radio guys talk about foul balls. The players and media scramble to get out of the way when a liner comes at them. Fans will dive over 3 rows of people in front of them to try and snag it.
