Fact of the matter is you do not know he is NOT doing certain things. Who is to say he is doing many certain things, however, the conjoining piece elects to go a different route or sign with a different team or hundreds of other possibilities.

You assume because the Packers haven't signed anyone that they haven't even tried?

You assume because your monday morning qb armchair general manager instincts aren't followed up by a true GM, one of just 32 in the entire world at his profession that said GM is doing nothing?

Regardless of what some people say, you do not win the Super Bowl by accident.

Regardless of what some people say, you do hold one of the best winning percentages over the last decade by accident.

You ever watch/listen to a Ted Thompson press conference? You get NOTHING from him and you think because things aren't being leaked out that NOTHING is being done or attempted?

How many years did it take before we found out what really happened with Randy Moss? Remember so many whining about "How could the Packers not even TRY to get him?" Or how about Tony Gonzalez for that matter.

You wanna piss and moan about Ted Thompson, piss and moan about the secrecy, the impressive secrecy for our time that he and his staff maintain.

The Angel of Death went by the name of Mike Sherman. He almost got there. By the time Thompson got here the only good players on the roster were all 30 something and on the downside. You do remember Wolfe stating that a significant number of players on the roster in Sherman's last year did not belong in the NFL and sure enough most of them never did a thing.

All this AND handing the team over totally cap strapped as well.

If it weren't for Ted Thompson plus McCarthy working together this team was primed to go into a deep freeze like many clubs that were pretty darn good and disappeared for YEARS.

You had your Angel of Death alright but as incompetent as he was even Sherman couldn't run the team out of town. Thompson has more knowledge of personnel, talent, working contracts, retaining the right players, letting go the right players, and managing the cap in his little finger than Sherman ever did.

Had they kept him around even one more year this would have been worse than the 80's and taken years to field a winning team.

We got lucky grabbing Thompson when they did but this crap comes out every year during the first few days of FA. For me, I'll take the team that hits the field in May. After the draft. All day long and able to play with anybody.

I've been confronting the Dumbass from Texas for over a year now while the rest of you pussies lay in the weeds. Texas and I are equally sinister in that we like to rattle cages. I'm just much better at it than he is.

Anyway, the Packers have the money to stack this team up with the mid-level free agents now that the huge spending spree is over. I was just super happy that we kept Sam, which I consider our big free agent splash. Now let Ted work the rest of the free agent pool for some bargains, and more importantly - the draft.

As for Texas and this lame ass thread - well, don't let me stop you from abusing his sorry ass! LOL

It's interesting how many attribute Thompson getting "lucky" because we landed Aaron Rodgers. He has been unlucky as well. What about the fact that he lost a possible hall of fame caliber safety Nick Collins to a career ending injury? What about the crazy amount of injuries in 2010, but won the SB anyway? Thompson also hired McCarthy, who is a great offensive mind that really helped groom Rodgers into the the qb he is today. Rodgers didn't win that superbowl by himself. He had good offensive and defensive players around him that Ted Thompson drafted. No quarterback has ever won a sb by themselves. If only Dan Marino had Ted Thompson as his GM!

As for this Thompson thing, he has done some good things; I never said he didn't. When he came to Green Bay, though, I think before they committed all that money to renovating the stadium, etc., I really wouldn't rule out the conspiracy idea. Anyway, I expected the negative reception in here. Whatever. Things needed some spicing up.

This has got to be up there with landing on the moon conspiracy, and 9/11 was fake conspiracy. I think my IQ just went down 10 points reading this. Before you question Ted Thompson ask yourself, would you rather over pay for a couple guys this year with big names or sign guys like Nelson and Cobb next season and get a couple guys that will help your team in FA after all the dumb money was thrown around? There is a plan and a method to the madness. Ted and the rest of the front office knows who they will need to beat to win a Super Bowl and I can guarantee that come week one they are going to put a team out there that will at least have a shot to win every week, even without over priced flashy names.

2010 Draft Stars

Everyone in a way

2011 Draft Stars

2012 & 2013 - Still time to judge. - But Eddie Lacy, Mike Daniels, Datone Jones, micah Hyde and Casey Heyward all look like they have great potential.

That's a pretty impressive haul, even if Rodgers wasn't drafted the general notion would be "Ted Thompson drafts well", even though the last few drafts have been average, with time to prove otherwise.

Now, I don't agree with everything Ted Thompson does :- I do think he is a little too prudent in signing players in positions we need, but put that down to stubbornness. It is frustrating knowing we are missing a few vital pieces. To suggest anything to the contrary though, especially nonsense about conspiracy is you being a 'tard i'm afraid.

A quick look around the league shows that it's better to be on the prudent side of the fence, but still show a little flash. Not Redskins Flash, Not Eagles flash - see how that turned out? But just a little.

If Ted learns to fill in the gaps, he is one of the best GM's.

buckeyepackfan (28-May) : He wad all butt hurt because Aaron duped the media saying he was immunized.
