Oh great, just what we need, another diss Capers thread.

I blame him all right. I blame him for whatever degree his input goes into Thompson's personnel decisions. I blame him also for whatever degree - 100%? - he is responsible for who plays - who starts as well as sub packages.

Beyond that, Capers has done a great job of using schemes to compensate for overall weakness of personnel aggravated by injuries. We would have been a helluva lot worse off without those schemes.

Well Wayne, when you tell your fat, lazy 350 lineman to just stand there and take up the blocks, it's pretty tough to get pressure. We've been real hard on Raji and Pickett and some of it warranted, but if they are being coached to just do that, then it falls on Trgvac and Capers. You really can't blame Raji for being disinterested except for the fact that he is being payed pretty well to be interested.

I will say this and that is I was very impressed with how Capers went about defending the 49'rs and that was the most important game of the year. No Mathews, Jolly, Hayward, and then Shields and Neal go down before the coin toss hit the ground.

I didn't think there was any way they were going to stay with those guys....but they did.

He had three first round picks over there in Mathews, Perry, and Raji, who literally contributed nada in far too many games. Albeit much of that due to injury. Then you have Datone Jones who obviously was just trying to learn how to play the role his position called for.

Add to this they had the most horse shit Safety play in the entire league.

Mathews coming back healthy would be huge in itself but some other guys need to step up and play. If D. Jones, Burnett, Worthy, Hayward, Perry, come back and play consistently at the level they have shown flashes this D is much better right away.

If Capers is to fault for anything it's that his schemes are very sophisticated and take 11 guys and lots of reps to mesh and when they start having to replace as many players as they did this last year there are just too many mistakes made and the unity required is just not there.
So maybe he needs a simplified plan B when three or four guys go down that requires less of these guys coming in.

...

A) Dom's system to too complicated

B) players are too stupid to run the system

C) players are not talented enough

D) Dom is a bad play caller

F) all the above.

Dom's defenses can be good but they are way too prone to just fall to complete shit in the face of adversity.

Sometimes I think Dom starts to favor his guys who have been there awhile. Maybe it was Mike who made the decision to put Boyd in and some of these other guys.

I say again, HIS SCHEMES PREVENTED A BAD SITUATION FROM BEING EVEN WORSE. Do some people here actually not remember the bland Robert Sanders defense that came before him?

Mucky Tundra (2h) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
