You don't know what attempts were made lol. Either way the fact is they were interested in him which makes the packer people statement complete bullshit. People take the packer people thing too far it isn't a thing as much as some people act like it's a thing.

Thompson just didn’t want Lynch as badly as the Seahawks did.

Pete Doughtery of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports Thompson was “in on the bidding” for Lynch before Seattle acquired him. The Seahawks ultimately gave up a fourth-round pick in 2011 and a sixth-round pick in 2012 that could escalate to a fifth-rounder.

I agree with Florio that the Packers should have made a play for Lynch, but it’s not a devastating non-move. The Packers, like the Patriots, are a matchup-based pass-first team that will use a running back committee. They don’t need to feed a back 20 times a game. Brandon Jackson can handle passing downs well and John Kuhn is a solid enough option on running downs.

Certainly the Packers could use more depth at running back and a spark at the position would be nice. But their troubles at running back matter less than finding some offensive line consistency and locating a pass rush outside of Clay Matthews.

Packers G.M. Ted Thompson isn’t into splashy moves. That doesn’t stop speculation about them in Green Bay.

Aaron Rodgers was asked about the possibility of the Packers trading for his old college teammate Marshawn Lynch following Ryan Grant’s season-ending injury.

“Bring him on,” Rodgers said, via Greg Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “He’s a great player.”

In a shocking development, Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports has been stumping for the Packers to rescue Lynch, his beloved former Cal Bear. The move makes sense on many levels until you read Buffalo’s asking price.

Silver reports the Bills turned down a third-round pick and a player for Lynch in the offseason and showed no interest when a team called about Lynch as recently as last week. I don’t need sources in Green Bay to know Thompson would rather talk about his personal life in a press conference than give up a third-round pick for Lynch. It won’t happen.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/09/15/aaron-rodgers-on-marshawn-lynch-bring-him-on/

Seattle traded a 4th round pick, along with a conditional 5th or 6th round selection the following year.

You call not beating that deal trying? I don't. And our running game was a clusterfuck from 2011 on till we got Lacy. That was a missed opportunity.

So, how wasn't Lynch a Packers people person?

The deal was made two weeks before the NFL trade deadline, and marks a turnaround in philosophy for the Bills, who said last spring they had no intention of trading him. Lynch had been seeking a fresh start after his reputation in Buffalo took a hit following his off-field troubles.

In June 2008, he pleaded guilty to a traffic violation and admitted to driving off after striking a female pedestrian with his car near Buffalo's downtown bar district.

In March 2009, Lynch pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor gun charge in Los Angeles, after police discovered a semiautomatic handgun in a backpack of the trunk of a parked car Lynch was sitting in.

BTW, it was Buffalo. Perennial idiots of the NFL. Ted could have stolen him for a 3rd round pick…. But, continue on with your circular argument with yourself.

Many teams would give up a 1st round pick to get the production Seattle has out of him but that doesn't change the fact that he wasn't worth a 1st round pick to any team in 2010. That's not the point anyways, the point is you claiming the Packers weren't interested in him because of the foolish notion of not being Packers people despite the fact that they clearly WERE interested in him on some level regardless of "Packers people"

Edit: Forgot to mention, does Randy Moss know how to play CB? Because I remember Al Harris getting abused by Plexico Burress (guy with off the field issues, not PP material!)

One look at Seattle's D last night and I would say we are pretty far away from our next Superbowl.

We need, still, to get bigger and faster on D, and I'll add, meaner. We seemed to play uninspired football far too often last season.

I'm taken aback by our loss of toughness and inspired play. We clearly don't have the same types of players on our D, as was on display with Seattle.

What we say in the Superbowl this year was FOUR solid quarters of Mike McCarthy LULL. Tense up, think too much, be tentative, never get into a rhythmn, shit yourself repeatedly.

Archie Manning was a great player, stuck on a shitty team for his entire career. His sons are his revenge on the NFL. It just means too much to Peyton Manning. He can't relax and just play in those situations.

stop with the packers people crap. Do you have some sort of credible information that GB wasn't interested in those guys or something because they weren't "packer people" No you don't because GB did try to get Lynch here. So much for that idea.
