For anyone that does leave, how will they do replacing them? You look at a team like the patriots who have sustained a level of success for over a decade and that is one thing they've done very well.

Don't forget too, their starting QB is now a Super Bowl winning franchise QB. Those guys get pretty hefty raises from what I hear.

Cut the 8-million dollar Sidney Rice.

He has not done squat.

Avril and Bennett were one year deals too.

Next year is when the rubber really hits the road for Seattle's cap. Both Russell Wilson and Richard Sherman will be up, but until then, they've got another year to keep them on the cap friendly terms of their original deals.

John Schneider will have his work cut out for him.

Look at all the talent they brought in within the last 3 years… especially last year alone. It is amazing, and it paid off with the SB win. I kind of wish Ted would take more chances like they did to push his team over the hump. Another Lombardi Trophy for the Packers would have made it worthwhile these last 3 seasons, even if we would have had to purge the roster a bit afterwards.

I don't think it can be done through the draft alone. I just don't.

I think the coaches in Seattle just know how to get more out of their players. Didn't they lose their defensive coordinator a head coaching position and follow that up with having the best defense (in points allowed) in the NFL? Then they basically dismantle the Broncos who had the best scoring offense in the NFL ... HISTORY.

I say it's more about the coaches than the players. Perhaps the GM there knows how to get players that fit his coaches scheme?

I think Schneider is a great personnel man, and he filled his roster out well with dynamic players. Starting CB Byron Maxwell was a 6th round pick in 2011. SS Earl Thomas a 1st round pick in 2010. FS Kam Chancellor a 5th round pick in 2010. CB Richard Sherman a 5th round pick in 2011. That secondary is exceptional, very near the epitome of a great NFL secondary. Their LBs are remarkable. SB MVP OLB Malcolm Smith was a 7th round pick in 2011. And Schneider popped back to back OLB Bruce Irvin R1 and MLB Bobby Wagner R2 in 2012. Masterful drafting, including 2 R1s LT Okung 2010, LG Carpenter 2011 and an R2 C Unger 2009). He also added some top talents (Clemons, Bennet and Avril) via FA on both sides of the ball (Harvin, Lynch, Giacomini). And, yes, their coaching staff is looking like they know what the hell they are doing out there. Unlike ours on so many occasions…

That Seattle team is well built, with top talents at many positions, and well coached. The teacher, Thompson, could learn a few things from the pupil, Schneider.

This is the one place where I think Ted has missed opportunity. I think you can build a team through the draft, and build young experienced youth like we have had for a number of years, But I think once in a while you need to go for it even if you hurt next year or two's salary cap in doing so. I mean isn't that what draft and develop and drafting the BPA is suppose to provide you with. A talented team of young still cheap players so you have the ability to spend, to fill the holes that didnt' get filled through the draft.

I don't think this is the year to do it though. I think this is the year to make big moves in the draft, getting better quality and less quantity, and maybe next year will only have a couple needs that can be filled through FA.

If we keep on the path we are on, we may have a playoff contending team every year but I don't think we are going to have a SB contending team. I would rather go all in and have to do a small rebuild for a year or two than just be a play off team all the time.

I think back to the disappointment Charles Woodson displayed in the press after SEA signed Marshawn Lynch. We really could have used him back then. Might have won back to back SBs…. or more…

That's in the past, and now we have Eddie Lacy, along with Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson and crew. That is an explosive offense. Load up that defense, and I like our chances next season.

Zero2Cool (16h) : oops meant $10m cap hit
Zero2Cool (16h) : And pre june is $10m savings

Martha Careful (11-Mar) : Tyler Linderbaum C

Mucky Tundra (11-Mar) : I've seen trade ideas of Jaire going to the Ravens all offseason
beast (11-Mar) : A probably false rumor is suggesting CB Jaire Alexander is being traded to the Ravens, again probably false
beast (11-Mar) : Commanders might have a dominant offense the next 3 years at least
Zero2Cool (11-Mar) : San Francisco 49ers announced they have released DL Leonard Floyd.
Mucky Tundra (11-Mar) : Er getting traded twice like that
Mucky Tundra (11-Mar) : Huh, LT Laremy Tunsil traded from Houston to Washington. Never heard of a top OT getting traded in his career like that
