12. Green Bay Packers (21st)

PassB: 3rd,
RunB: 26th,
PEN: 16th

Stud: How would Josh Sitton fare switching to left guard? The +33.1 grade should tell you. Ending the season with just one negatively graded game (Week 1) he was the model of consistency, allowing just eight quarterback disruptions all year.

Dud: He only played 250 snaps, yet that was enough time for Marshall Newhouse (-9.2) to show everyone the team made the right move in benching him.

Analysis: The strength of the unit remains the interior where besides Sitton, T.J. Lang had an encouraging year if somewhat lacking on the consistency front. Evan Dietrich-Smith was perhaps the biggest surprise as he likely locked down the starting centers job for a long time and it leaves the line in good shape. David Bakhtiari was hardly a disaster and with Bryan Bulaga to return, the team suddenly has some real depth.

I'm actually pretty excited for this OL development, especially with Bulaga returning to what I would imagine to be RT. If we re-sign EDS, which I think we will, this could be very good moving forward. Lang's play suffered with the Newhouse/Barclay thing happening next to him. Solid play from Bulaga could make all the difference in the world.

I'm also looking forward to seeing what Tretter can do at C, possibly in a backup role, possibly as a starter… Regardless, this is encouraging. With Mike McCarthy having an entire year with the 1-2 punch of Lacy and Starks, I think he came around to how to run the football with authority. At least, he's closer than he was last year and the year before. We should be much improved next season.

I can't see how our line ranked that high pass blocking and that low run blocking? If we had the 3rd best oline pass blocking there must be some really shitty pass blocking olines. And if we were that bad in run blocking (with two backs averaging 4 and 5 ypc) there are some really great run blocking Olines.

I would expect us to be 10-15th in both.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

And then there are the pressures and hurries and hits to factor in. Aaron may not have taken the sack but he was pressured and had to scramble a whole bunch of times. Those should be negatives for the line not positives.

Keep in mind that ProFootballFocus doesn't place every sack onto the OL. They analyze each play and assign the sack to where it should go. And Aaron Rodgers deserves a lot of blame for a lot of the sacks. Personally, anytime he holds the ball for more than 3 seconds and it's a sack I would say it's on him. You need to get rid of the dang ball. If Aaron isn't intelligent enough to get through his reads faster, maybe he should do less commercials and spend more time watching film.

So they didn't often give up pressures but they were turned into sacks at a high rate. I have to say I feel like that's pretty accurate. We had great pass blocking up the middle this year for the most part. Bakhtiari improved a lot throughout the year and Barclay was the only player on the line who wasn't really very good at any point and 1 position struggling can usually be mitigated. I also think the game plan this year (especially with Flynn) was to throw more quick passes and that also contributed. Also Bakhtiari I usually thought was solid for the most part but when he got beat he got beat quickly.

This certainly doesn't show that our line was great this year by any means and I'm sure you could find many flaws in the charting but maybe some here could concede that the line was possibly better in comparison to the rest of the NFL teams than their perception of it was.

I wonder exactly how they do judge things.

Our O-Line absolutely does NOT pass the eye test. Contrary to silly remarks blaming Aaron Rodgers for what amounts to caution about avoiding interceptions, the only reason our O-Line did not fare a LOT worse in terms of sacks is the escapability of our illustrious QB.

26th in run blocking sounds about right based on what we see virtually every time Lacy tries to run outside and even on inside runs when the opponent's D is not looking for the pass.

Josh Sitton is good, and EDS and Lang had decent seasons, but I question whether they are as good as their ranking. Could it be that the interior gets higher ratings against the pass rush because it is so pathetically easy to beat our OTs that opponents don't emphasize coming up the middle? Could it be that Rodgers is good enough at getting away from center quickly that an outside rush makes more sense?

I don't see much help on the way for our O-Line - other than the HOPE of Bulaga returning to decency and the long shot hope of Sherrod playing like a first rounder. I don't have much hope for Bakhtiari improving significantly. Just the same, maybe good enough is good enough. With Rodgers, and now Lacy, we STILL ought to be able to outscore just about anybody just about anytime, especially if they snap out this idiotic trend of trying to run on early downs.

Zero2Cool (2h) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (6h) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (6h) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (7h) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (7h) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (7h) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (7h) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (7h) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (7h) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (8h) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (8h) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (8h) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (8h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (8h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (8h) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (8h) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (10h) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (10h) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (10h) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
