I think the thought process was Austin was supposed to be this flashy speedster so he must have been and who is Micah Hyde.
Makes no sense when you look at the stats though does it.
33 for 280 yds and a TD for Austin
24 for 296 yds and a TD for Hyde.
I don't get their thought process behind their voting for ROY either.
This guy is the rookie of the year but this other guy is the offensive rookie of the year and this other guy is the defensive rookie of the year. It makes no sense. I can see the distinction between OROY and DROY but how is one of these guys not the overall ROY. This guy was the offensive ROY but this other guy was better so he is the ROY. Wouldn't you think the ROY would also be either the OROY or the DROY.
Are they trying to make it like the MVP and the offensive player of the year. At least those two awards have different names and presumably different criteria.
It looks to me like they wanted to vote for Lacy but they knew they would take heat from the Allen camp so they made up an award for Lacy to make it seem like he was the top guy. I say made up an award because if you look you will see that in all years past they had OROY and DROY awards and they had no overall ROY award.
