How about steal Spagnola for our defense and keep McCarthy?

And yes, I'd like Billick to be our OC. That would be great...Spagnola and Billick as our two coordinators. What a team.

I may be wrong, but I don't think we can steal him unless he's getting a promotion. DC to DC would be lateral, so I don't think we could do that.

I don't see a coach like Billick or even someone like Crennel coming back to a team to be a coordinator.
Teamwork is what the Green Bay Packers were all about. They didn't do it for individual glory. They did it because they loved one another. -Vince Lombardi

There are plenty of cases of even head coaches, particularly failed head coaches, returning to the ranks of coordinators. Ray Rhodes and Mike Martz are the first two examples that come to mind.

I don't want to see MM gone. But if we're 6-10 next year...

Now to answer your question - who would I want if he were let go? Right now, no one except for the two people you just said I couldn't pick.

Oh, you can pick 'em - I just happen to think that both are totally unrealistic. Then again, I'm jonesing for us to snag Johnson, so who am I to talk?

My bottom line (not-so-cleverly hidden), of course, is that there isn't anyone out there that the Packers can get who's a real improvement over McCarthy. If all we want is a scapegoat for a disappointing year, that's a different story. Then again, the teams who switch coaches like they change socks don't tend to be in the mix come playoff time, so that looks like an endless spiral to me.

And if the team is 6-10 or the like next year, I can almost guarantee you I'll be calling for McCarthy's head myself.

I don't have any names, and don't necessarily want McCarthy gone. There are some things that I don't like that I have seen him do this year and a little last year.

If, it happens that he is given the boot, I would like to see the HC be a defensive guy. And give the offense to an OC.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Why not include Cowher he is looking into other teams? But how about Mr. Ryan the DC from Baltimore he would bring an attitude we need to get back in Green Bay. Heres a blast from the past Marty Schott.? Theres a few but we need some attitude to this team i'm tired of the powder puff MM and his we need to fix this, we need better pad level answers.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be šŸ™‚ (PS, Zero should charge for this)

So Rex Ryan and Marty Schottenheimer, then? Not too bad, though I'm not sure I'd call either an upgrade. Ryan's never been a HC so we're rolling the dice there, and Marty has a history of great regular seasons followed by early playoff exits.

Still, you at least offered some suggestions, which thus far is more than anyone else who's been calling for McCarthy's head.

Cowher, include him if you want -- but I doubt he'll coach in 2009 and if he does, I'd bet real money it won't be in Green Bay. He's said he has no intentions to coach this year and, rumors aside, I haven't seen anything that indicates he's lying.
