Sigh.

Another post-season of... this.

Just a little word to you folks who can't let it go (whether you're ultra-pro-Favre or ultra-pro-Thompson): You're ruining it for the rest of us.

After a disappointing season, the rest of us (you know, the other 80% of Packers fans) would like to find a few bright spots, look forward to what might happen next year. You know, offseason stuff. Earlier than we'd like, but this is what we've got.

So we log into places like this, only to see you 8edited8 still going at it.

Do you think you're going to change anyone's mind? Do you think any of your opponents are going to eat a little crow? Do you realize that this season has ended in disappointment for Favre AND the Packers? That, in fact, NOBODY won?

Do you people even like football, or are you solely interested in arguing on the internet?

Criminy.

Well typed. Great point.

I look at it this way. An extra 3rd round pick is....

Let me see....we had a QB who retired, for which we got nothing.

He is traded after orchestrating chaos for the entire Packers' organization this past summer, for which we got a third.

Said QB lives up (down?) to recent performance levels and shits his pants in the final 5 - 6 weeks of the season....and is ALREADY playing the retirement card for his newest, bestest buddies.

We have a very capable QB for the future and a third...the Jets have disorganization and chaos...and the aging prima donna to deal with this offseason.

I will go out on a limb and say, "Good job, Teddy....well done!

This is what I'm talking about -- let's get into the discussion about how we'll use the pick to improve the team we have. All the other arguing is about what if, and like someone said: If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a happy holiday.

I'll retract the name-calling (though it's my opinion that the name fits people who would rather argue pointlessly about events that have already come and gone), but I'll reiterate that the only people interested in that old argument are the ones who are always involved in it.

This is all I'm going to say on the matter...

Unless Favre could play defense, having him as our QB wouldn't have mattered one tiny little bit. QB wasn't our problem. Defense was. So argue all you want, but a change at QB doesn't solve our problems.

Aren't you arguing about not arguing? Sort of "taking the high road" to get a shot in on the morons?

More good news = of the 5 teams who finished 9-7, the Jets easily had the lowest strength of schedule (.457). That means they will be picking 17th in each round.

So we have 1(9), 2(9), 3(9), 3(17). Am I missing anything in the first 3 rounds?

I wouldn't say I was trying to get a shot in; more like I was trying (in vain, I'm sure) to point out that that particular argument is pointless and detracts from the experience for the majority of folks who'd like to logon just once and not have to wade through the same old crap again.

Now, to practice what I preach: Yeah, I think that looks right, and I'm very much looking forward to getting to know the players in the upcoming draft so I can make my yearly draft wish-list. I'm far more interested in doing a little dreaming about the future than I am in wallowing in the past.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
