I changed the topic of this thread because it has not been confirmed and LombardiAve has removed the article.

The actual title they had was "Dom Capers out as Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator; Winston Moss in"

Quote below is the text of the article posted six minutes prior to this topic being created at PH.

For the past 4.5 years, Dom Capers has been the Packers defensive mastermind — a position in which he excelled when he first came to Green Bay. However, his run in Green Bay came to an end today as the Packers fired the longtime NFL coach and replaced him as defensive coordinator with Winston Moss.

LombardiAve  wrote:

This is a separate article from the one posted last night saying Dom SHOULD be fired. This article stated he HAS been fired.

LombardiAve removed the article. Why?

Maybe they have inside info and weren't supposed to publish it until Packers make it public?
Maybe it's an attempt to get domain page hits?

I don't know, but it seems odd to say a man is fired, announce his replacement and then remove the article from the interweb.

How would you feel about Winston Moss taking over for Dom Capers?

Also, would that mean Kevin Greene takes over Inside Linebackers in addition to Outside Linebackers too?

Yeah I'm not seeing it reported anywhere else. Would make for an interesting week though.

My biggest issue is with the scheme. Like you said earlier, and I agree..would like to see a more physical type of scheme. To hell with this lining up 10 yards from the line of scrimmage bullshit.

Get physical with the WR's on the line of scrimmage/disrupt their timing.

Would Moss have a different scheme? I have no idea.

If they do make a switch I just want less of the 2 dlineman stuff. I can imagine there's a personnel problem in there but at this point what do you have to lose?

I would have no problem with Moss taking over for the rest of the season: The team needs a kick in the butt. This would be a start. He is familiar with the players and they with him. He would use some of the current scheme which the players know. He would add a few wrinkles of his won which the opposition would not be ready for. There is a big big book on Dom out there already.

Likewise I would like to see Greene step up and take over more responsibility. If they don't give it to him someone else will. I am a bit surprised he has not landed elsewhere after what he did in 2010.

With Capers I get the feeling that Jones won't hear that much about it; if Greene were DC I feel that he would be up Jones ass all week.

This seems to be a false rumour. If Cpaers is fired I would like to see Greene as the DC, I don't think we can keep him as OLB coach much longer. He has really gotten the best from his players and he badly needs an upgrade.

Just like that? Mid-season? Because we got run on badly for two games in a row?

If we really had that big a problem with Capers' stinking it up, we would've fired him after the 2011 season. The only thing we're worse at now than then is in takeovers.

Next to that, when's the last time we just starting firing coaches mid-season? If we did that, Campen would be long gone by now.

I'm not saying anything about it being justified or not, but just that it's very, very unlikely.

As much as Dom Capers scheme sucks and never changes, look at the players as well. There are far too many missed opportunities by these players to place all the blame on just Capers.

The two long passes that the Eagles scored on were downright embarrassing. DeSean Jackson walked in backwards from 5 yards and Cooper rolled into the endzone...I mean, seriously. C'mon.

dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.

Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.

Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
