I don't think anyone from our division deserves to be in the playoffs. Sorry Vikes. I do think Adrian deserves to be in there though lol

Having EIGHT division champs seems to ... make it less meaningful to me.

I'd like to see us cut that in HALF.

Split it up like North/South, or East/West for each conference.

Having a team like New England not make it with 11 wins I think it's lame cuz a team that has eight wins is going to get in. I just don't care for that too much.

An 8-8 team getting in over a 11-5 team is a rare occurrence. This is the first time an 8-8 team has gotten in since the divisions were re-aligned in 2000. Typically, you might see a team get snubbed by a division winner with only one less loss. Is it 100% fair? No. But I don't find it egregious enough to go to two division conferences. A two division conference means:

1) In order to stick with 1 home and 1 road game against division teams, which you'd pretty much have to, you'd only have room for 2 other non-division games. Who wants to see their team play essentially the same 7 teams year in year out?

2) It would be difficult, if not impossible, to align the divisions to the point of making travel easy for everyone.

#1 is the main point though.

Wow. See this makes sense now. Thanks for explaining this. Its a damn shame that a team does so well but doesn't get in. But this is the way the league is.

I am quite certain that the Rams made it into the playoffs as an 8-8 wild card sometime in the last 5 years.

In 2005, the 8-8 Rams and 8-8 Vikings both made it to the playoffs. Incredibly, both won their first games.

In losing to the Vikings, the 10-6 Favre-lead Packers became only the second team in league history to lose to a .500 team in the playoffs (the first being the Seahawks, who lost to the Rams the day before).

Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Now that's a thought, maybe they're looking at the college ranks? Maybe not head coaches but DC/assistant DCs with league experience?
beast (30-Jan) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
beast (30-Jan) : I wonder what's taking so long with hiring a DL coach, 2 of the 3 known to interview have already been hired elsewhere.

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
