Is Don Barclay In Danger of Losing His Job?

The Packers' offensive line has featured the same five starters for all six games this season (knock on wood), but Barclay has been the weak link over the last couple weeks. As such, it should not be a big surprise to see the team looking at the veteran Newhouse and the unknown quantity in Sherrod to see what they could do at that spot.

Geez, he must be playing poorly if they are thinking of replacing him with Newhouse.
I think it's safe to say his job is safe from Sherrod at this point, but it's good to hear Sherrod is getting some snaps.

Next season I expect Sherrod and Tretter to be in the starting lineup. Does Bacteria get moved over to RT, or do we leave him right where he is.

As for Barclay, kind of would like to see him used in short yardage situations like that old U71 package. He's done a decent job for us on the MASH unit, but doesn't have near the talent of Sherrod.

If Sherrod can step it up and take some of the snaps before the end of the season that would be great.

Wouldn't surprise me. He kind of won the starting job by default. This goes hand in hand with the philosophy that every week is its own competition which I believe is a very healthy mindset for a team to have. Could Sherrod be back in the starting line up when we near play off time?

I think the important question is where is Barclay? Is he there getting reps and just not with the #1s? Or is he not there and someone else is getting reps in his place?

I remember a couple years ago when Clifton was on the declide, someone else was getting the #1 LT reps... the media people freaked out suggesting that other guys might be pushing for Clifton spot and Clifton might have something to worry about.

Then as it turned out, Clifton just had some equipment problem he had to get taken care of, and once he did he got all the #1 LT snaps from that point on.
