We got by for 4 games last year without Clay, and at that time our backups were Walden and Moses. If we could do that last year, we can get by this year with Neal and Perry.

At least we wont go into the next game with only two players at a position like we did the other week with two RBs at the Bengals.

Apparently it's a bad break.

Might need surgery or something.

None of the next 4 teams are real offensive powerhouses either. Season ain't over.

Last year I think we went 3-1.

I think taking the 4 week break is fine. I'd prefer to have Matthews healthy for the home stretch into the playoffs than put something over the broken bone and potentially injure himself further. Aside from Burnett, the other guys mentioned are expendable to put a cast on and play, Matthews is not. Also, every fracture or break is different.

I posted it in live chat yesterday and will say it again.

Sure am glad The Packers get The Browns at Lambeau.

The Browns D, if they don't lose anyone to injury this week, will be the toughest defense The Packers have faced this year.

With Hoyer going down for the year, The Browns are back to Wheeden(sp?), he came in 10 days ago and preformed well leading the team to a win over The Bengals.

Then last Thursday, was a game manager, didn't do anything to lose the game, and The Browns Defense shut down the Bills.

Browns are a different team on the road, but they are just young and nieve enough to think they belong, especially if they win this coming week.

Don't underestimate them.

If you watch Clay play from the edge, you should see why he wouldn't be able to play with the injury, at least in the beginning. Pass rush takes a lot of use of the hands grabbing while pushing and pulling to keep himself free of the blocker.

Though I would consider playing him at ILB, where he could get away better with a club, while leaving Perry and Neal to take care of OLB.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Well I have some reservations about Clay so far, so perhaps more time off will do him good. He is a great player. But he is playing a bit tentative. I only notice because my expectations are so high of him. So perhaps this increased rest he will receive will be rejuvenating for him...

Ive had a broken thumb before - was 18 and still lifted weights with a cast on ... not sure about the rough and tumble football but I would assume like burnett and jenkins get it casted up and still play but he wont be as good can tell you that; especially with his stripping of the QB.
