http://www.nfl.com/videos  then go to the td by Moss. I did not see anywhere in the video where it was a td, even Mike Pieria(sp) said it was an incomplete pass. What's up with the officiating? Do they really hate the Packers that much?

The issue with this play is it comes down to wherever the official decides Moss gained control of the ball. I say he didn't gain control of it until just before it hit his leg. The ref obviously believes he gained control of it just after the ball hit his hands, when his arms were still raised, which at that point his first foot was still on the ground. While I disagree with his opinion, I can certainly see why the ruling was made the way it was. If you polled all the teams of refs in the league I bet its probably a 70-30 split incomplete vs TD.

In before someone says you can say the above about every catch.

Not at all. No way he had control of the ball when his first foot hit the ground.

No problem with the call. Have a major problem with two leading with the helmet hits by Merriweather and neither hit was flagged. Are the Packers hated throughout the league or something?

I had to watch in horror at the ECU-Tech game yesterday as one of our guys was motionless on the field after an accidental one. Scary stuff.

The TD was bullshit, but the concussion just made me fucking ill.

This was gonna be a huge breakout day for Lacy's career. Now he may miss the whole first 1/4 of the season. I mean, you really wanna bring him back and risk another follow up concussion? Especially with this over cautious staff. He likely sits until after the bye.

Doesn't it just seem like if one of OUR guys did that, he'd be ejected?

Not a touchdown. Period. Especially if you take into consideration that the initial call was incomplete so the standard is supposed to be indisputable evidence to the contrary. If the call had initially been a touchdown I'd have bee more understanding.

The officials were awful. Again. And on the spearing counts, how do you miss the two most blatant fouls of the entire game? The NFL wants to eliminate these fouls but that will never fucking happen when ticky tacky calls are the norm and the blatant spearing attempts go unpunished. The application of the rule is borderline arbitrary. It's not going to stop the behavior. It's pointless. That is, of course, assuming the whole safety initiative is actually what is driving it and not the goal to drive ratings.

No way a TD...and definitely helmet to helmet. The first one could be argued that it happened because Lacey dropped his head, but the second one was no doubt about it.

How about the two handed jersey grab on Jones that was missed?

I believe there is an agenda with the referees to keep the games as close as possible, in order to maximize tv viewership. In the playoffs, there also, imo seems to be an agenda for the more popular teams to win. This was most obvious when Seattle was robbed in the Superbowl, causing the Steelers (and the popular "Jerome Bettis" story) to be victorious.

Fortunately, the Packers have some pretty good PR, so this can end up playing to some advantage in the playoffs. However as a superior team, it can play against us during the regular season, as we will often be favored, hence calls will go against us to keep the game close.

beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere

beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?

wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?

Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
