When one door is abruptly slammed shut without much warning, another door usually slowly creaks open. That's exactly the opportunity with which Packers' wide receiver Jarrett Boykin has been presented. With news that Jordy Nelson underwent knee surgery Monday that should keep him out for the next four-to-six weeks, Boykin will now have the [...]

ya we technically lost 2 Great WRs this offseason - Jennings and driver ...

If anything that is our weakest link errr well LT also.

Now is the time for the rookies to step up thou if they want to secure a decent spot; who knows how well nelson does when he comes back.

I think the new receivers that move up to fill vacant spots will do fine in general. Not that all the responsibility is on him, but with a quarterback of Rodgers' talent throwing the ball I am sure the Packers will be able to "make due" with what they have. On top of this there have been notable changes at the other supporting offensive positions. At RB we had the advent of Dujuan Harris showing promise last year, Eddie Lacy seems to be the real deal, and Starks has seemed impressive. By all reports Finley is much improved on his blocking, and a blocking tight end is in camp as well. You can't downplay the loss of receivers of Jennings and Drivers caliber, but the team should be able to adjust without too much trouble. It may mean less passing yards, but overall I think the offense should be more effective this year.

I really like Boykin a lot. The practice I watched, he really looked like a WR. I don't know how to explain that any better. He just looked the part. He also seems to catch everything near him too.

I don't think the Packers have a great WR on the team. A great WR will go to a new team, new QB and put up excellent numbers still.

I don't consider losing the current Driver a loss, at all. In fact, it could very well be a gain. Now if the Packers lost him 3 to 4 seasons ago, it'd be a different story, but they didn't . . . soooo.

Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53

beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
