gunny I don't want you to stretch or teach them how. Some big kahuna will show them how to do it. You are just the enforcer. I just want to to see a guy goofing off and stick a cattle prod up his arse and tell him to do what the other little boys are doing.

Stretching is a HUGE issue.

If my team had repeated injuries year after year like this, that's the FIRST thing I'd look at. DUH. Wtf are these people "studying?"

If it was just the fact that they're getting to big or not hitting enough, then the injuries would tend to be evenly distributed around the league. But it definitely seems certain teams (ours in particular) are getting hit harder than others on a consistent basis.

So yeah, the first thing I'd look at is stretching. Second is cardio.

Third is nutrition, and this cannot be understated. You need minerals. Vitamins, minerals and essential nutrients. Athletes sweat. When they sweat, they are losing electrolytes, not just water. Those are minerals and essential nutrients, which NEED to be replaced.

From a TCM standpoint, nourish liver yin to support sinews (ligaments, tendons, nerves, joints,) nourish kidney yin to support bone. Tonify spleen to support muscle. Lungs and heart too.

I play ultimate frisbee, and I have had far fewer injuries since switching from static to dynamic stretching before games. A lot of people still perform static stretches before exercising or practicing, which actually weakens the muscles. Here's some more info .

I don't know what kind of warm-ups the Packers do, but if this part isn't being done correctly, it can leave the muscles weakened and more prone to injury. I'm not claiming to be an expert on this by any means, but I'm surprised how many people don't know this information, as I still see ultimate players doing static stretches before games quite frequently.

Six months of off-season "conditioning" with Master Lee (that was the old guy's name) and B.J. Raji would be out-bending Gumby, dammit.

The valedictorian announced we were all exempt from our next two PFT's (Marine Physical Fitness Test) prior to Master Lee jumping over his young ass.

The Marines do not exempt Marines from the PFT when they attend BUDS, for example. Something perhaps some of you could relate to, as seen on TV or some-such. I KNEW I was fucked, lol. I wouldn't be surprised if that old bastard is STILL jumping over people's heads, at the age of about a hundred and something, lol

I think the Packers might need a bit of inspiration.. a twerk if you will.

Semper fi to my Marines, and thanks Wayne for knowing and remembering the nuts and bolts of what I did.

What do you think would happen if some NFL team brought in some of the instructors from "The Basic School" at MCB Quantico for training camp? My bet is that would be one very disciplined football unit, come opening day. I spoke of a differing dimension, and was essentially laughed at, but I'm telling you, it is too bad we don't go that route. There is a b.s. show called, "tactical to practical". One NFL team will someday "Send in the Marines." The rest of the NFL will not laugh that season.

Say we brought in 8. That would be 8 Vince Lombardi's on steroids (and the players and you) would say on some sort of drugs.

The excuses from people are laughable. Please don't blame it on anyone except football and football itself. I don't even wanna read everyones individuals opinions on this topic because it's the same thing over and over, preached in every packer forum. Probably every team forum there is.

This is the time of year everyone is returning to football. Players are just starting to run, jump, and hit eachother. There's gonna be injury's right now more than ever.

Sure blame staff blah, blah, blah. There's no one person out there that has a magical mind and hands to prevent these things. I don't know anything about the S&C coaches, they probably aren't the greatest in the league, but they can't prevent guys falling over on each other, they can't prevent guys tripping/falling during football drills, even if you enforce it, they can't tell players that you can't move this way you can't move that way. I mean come on...

I know it's frustrating but get over it people.

A new, more bold emphasis on strength an conditioning is definitely needed. Maybe they should hire Shaun T.
