I got a call from one of my nieces last Friday. She got a couple of tickets to Friday nite's game. She asked me to take her and her younger sister to the game and show them around the area.

I told her I would. My wife can't make it but I checked with my son. His grad classes are over for the summer so he will take the train out to Crystal Lake and I will got to Rockford, get the girls and then swing over to get him too.

I figure we will check out some of the sites on the streets. Show them the practice facilities, head into the Packer HoF before getting our seats.

Wasn't planning on missing work on Friday but oh well, when opportunity knocks.

I have checked in with the girls a couple of times first to move up our departure time in order to meet the train, then to make sure they know we will get a place to stay for the night. Then to explain to them the new security measures. Every time I call they are so giggly and bubbly. It is fun to see/hear this from young fans. They have spent hours pouring over the Packer site looking at their seats and maps of the area.

Technically they are my cousins but since my aunt is roughly my age they feel more comfortable calling us (my brothers and sister) aunt and uncle so I let them. Mom and dad have been grandparents to them since their real grandparent shave all passed away. So any how I had called my aunt (their mom) last year and asked if I could take them to a preseason game. the eldest daughter was pretty ill last summer so her parents said no. Unless they told her she doesn't know about my offer. That would have been really frustrating for her to know she missed out. Maybe they will let her know ofter she gets back home Saturday.

I kind of know where you are coming from with the uncle thing. Most of my sisters close friends and their kids call me uncle Steve. I know it sounds kind of creepy but I can assure you its not at all. Its good you can be there for your family. Hope you have a great time. I wish my nephews would want me to take them to Lambeau Field (poor unfortunate Bears fans that they are)

Any chance you will be participating in the tryouts for left tackle?

I think we will grab a sandwich somewhere before we park and check out the Hall. If you want to meet up for an early dinner that would probably work.
