I missed the first half of the scrimmage, but some things stood out to me:
- Eddie Lacy looked awesome. He seemed to be consistently pushing the pile an extra 1 or 2 yards and always fell forward. Even for a big guy, he showed good quickness on his cuts and was decisive when hitting the hole (something we have lacked for years). Did I mention that the dude is big?
- Harrell looked much better than Coleman. Coleman was indecisive and held the ball too long multiple times. Even when he actually decided to throw the ball, the passes were inaccurate.
- Nixon is going to be an interesting player to watch the rest of the preseason. He was already making some noise in training camp, with the help of injuries of other corners. He had a pick-6 (thanks to Coleman), but sure looked pretty winded afterward. He may end up being a darkhorse candidate to snag a spot. This gets more interesting with Tramon Williams continuing to miss time.
- The 1st team defense looked pretty good. I believe it was the 1st team that held their own on the goal line.
- AJ Hawk looks like he slimmed down a bit.
- Neither kicker is giving me any confidence...
