...your 91-year-old mother called you up, and asked you to make an appointment with the doctor for a pregnancy test, because your dad (who died in 1977) came into her bed two nights in a row, and she wants to know in time in case so she can get an abortion?

(This is a serious question, since it just happened to me.)

"Mom, I called the doctor's office. They can check for this over the - phone, internet, fill something else in here- now a days. They said that you are not pregnant and don't have to go to the doctor's office."

I would get my mother checked out for dementia or Alzheimer's. In a way, it is kind of cute, but if you've ever had to care for elderly people - you know that they can one seem very normal and the next say something from left field like this.

My empathy Wade, tread lightly cause this is very delicate.

I agree with what Dakota said, but dementia/Alzheimers doesn't just come on suddenly - in most cases. I'd have her checked for a stroke or something like that. As for the stuff she says, I'd say go along with it and let a doctor gently tell her no she's not.

I always suspected that when people with dementia or Alzheimers are "out of it", they are reliving good times from the past in their mind. This kinda goes along with that.

She definitely has suffered from dementia for awhile now. Gradually worse over the last 18 months in particular. Been in a nursing home since February, assisted living for 2 1/2 years before that. The dementia/Alzheimer's unit (extra door locks, etc.) is surely coming at some point.

And since my sister lives 300 miles away, yours truly is primary responsible person and recipient of several phone calls from The Mom most days.

This is one of the reasons I cut Dakota and the other youngsters some slack -- they're going to have to deal with Boomer Dementia, i.e., lots and lots of us. Don't envy them a bit.

Me, I just want to be cognizant enough that it's happening to me so I can start hanging out in Foster's Tijuana bars and chute-less sky-diving and such things.

I couldn't find the link or article, but it's a drug, not stem cells that is the hot new treatment. As for stem cells, there's nothing that fetal stem cells can do that adult stem cells can't do just as well. It's all about the abortion pushers promoting the bogus need for fetal stem cells. You make a big deal about your "Christian values" - yet I bet I can guess your sick view about fetal murder i. e. abortion.

I'll take my chances hahahaha. I have a theory about Viagara and similar drugs: they are only needed if the girl isn't pretty or sexy enough. So far, the theory hasn't been contradicted hahahaha. You really should go to a few foreign countries, Dakota - especially Asian. It might help your perspective. "attends"? what's that? another thing you need to look up, I think hahahahahaha.

edit: I stand corrected - I looked it up and there really is a brand named "Attends". I guess that actually makes YOU the expert on SOMETHING, Dakota hahahahaha.
