Sam Shields signs his Packers RFA tender

With a long-term deal possibly in the offing, Packers defensive back Sam Shields has made the first move toward multi-year security. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Shields has signed his one-year restricted free agency tender. He's now under contract through 2013, at a salary of $2.023 million. For now, there will be no long-term deals and no holdouts.Cornerback Sam Shields has signed his restricted free agent tender worth $2.023 million this season, a source confirmed to the Journal Sentinel.
