Casey Hayward is getting a fantastic opportunity, receiving reps as the starter at cornerback with Shields not taking part and Davon House still recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.

Wtf. Shouldn't he have just gone ahead and done this last preseason!?

And why haven't we heard about this before now?

First I've heard of this too. I really like House's play, and I hope he returns healthy to contribute. Hayward should win the starter opposite Williams. He's that good. Add Micah Hyde to the equation, and I think we will be pretty good at CB. Shields returning almost seems inconsequential, as much as I like his play. Weird. We seem pretty stacked back there, as long as House returns healthy.

It's sounding more and more like Shield's contract is becoming an issue as he has Drew Rosendickhead as his agent.

I commend House for playing through the shoulder injury as best as he could last season. He was looking VERY good in TC prior to his injury. He did win that job. Outright. He was playing so well I thought he might be putting Tramon's job in jeopardy this season.

I've got nothing against Shields, and I hope he returns. That would make this one of the top secondaries in the NFL.

It is frustrating when players wait so long before opting for surgery.

I understand why they do. They hope that they will heal up and not have the down time that always comes post surgery. That said so many times all they end up doing is delaying the inevitable surgery until it cuts into the season. I am sure the input that the team and the medical people give them is a huge part of the whole process but still. I wish they wouldn't wait as long as they do.

I think it was said right after the season ended that he was going to have this done.

Hayward is the man. He will grow by leaps and bounds this year in my opinion. One of my top 5 players to keep an eye on 🙂

You are right. He has shown so little to warrant the amount of praise and respect he's gotten from many fans, myself included. He just seems to have enormous potential. But, so does James Starks... who has oddly enough been more available than Davon House.

House has only played in a total of 9 games in two years.
