No way! It doesn't make any sense to trade your best Inside Linebacker.

NFL: AroundTheLeague ‏@NFL_ATL 3m
News out of Green Bay, where the Packers are actively shopping LB Desmond Bishop, per @MoveTheSticks

According to Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network, the Green Bay Packers are actively shopping inside linebacker Desmond Bishop around the league.

This is really surprising given that the Packers could actually use some at the position and Bishop has been their best inside linebacker in the past few years.

He did suffer a bad hamstring injury during the preseason last year, so there could be some concerns relating his recovery.

Bishop, 28, signed a four-year deal worth $19.05 million back in 2011 and is under contract for a very reasonable $3.464 million this season.

We’ll have to see if anything comes of this.

While I don't think Desmond is going to be our starter this year. He doesn't have the speed or size I think the team wants. I don't really see this.

How about all our remaining tradeable picks, and Desmond for Joe Thomas.

Could more changes be coming to the Packers' linebacking corps? According to Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network and NFL.com (via his colleague, Ian Rapoport), the Packers are willing to trade inside linebacker Desmond Bishop. The 28-year-old Bishop notched a career-best 115 tackles and five sacks in 13 games in 2011, but he missed the 2012 campaign

No real surprise here that the trade "talk" has motivated Desmond Bishop.

PFT: Bishop says that trade talk motivates him.

Oh yeah, definitely. I get so much motivation from so much different stuff. I’m ready to go.

I kinda thought the whole Bishop and James Starks trade talk was nothing more than an attempt to kick both in the rear and if someone came knocking with a good deal ... let it happen. Basically, it's a win-win for the Packers. A, motivate your players and if they lack motivation, they are not worth their roster spot, B, get value for players who are coming off an injury.

They have a good bit of money locked up with the ILB position. I'm not surprised they're trying to reduce it some. Though I don't like the idea of getting rid of one of them but I can understand why.

I heard a rumor that Manning looked surprisingly good for a rookie last year and MIGHT be able to step up if needed to start, and the Packers do believe in their young guys.

I also think Capers changed up the defense a bit (like Mike McCarthy said they were), seem like the DL was asked to protect the LBers more which freed up the ILBers to go to action more using their speed and quickness which helped Hawk and Jones. Bishop doesn't have a lot of speed so I wonder if they feel he might be better suited for the older defense.

Ether way he's coming off an injury, and they're paying 3 guys starter money with only 2 starter spots, it wouldn't be surprising. Though it will be interesting to see if they wait until the pads come on, where Bishop should look better in than just shorts.

beast (14h) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.

dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.

Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
