Not sure that Eddie Lacy fits in the somewhat underwhelming category of '10 of the less attractive but most intriguing' rookies to watch this weekend. But, that's where you can find the new Packers running back in a preview of some of the upcoming rookies to watch from Clark Judge of cbssports.com.
Judge says that while most of the attention in NFL camps will be on quarterbacks such as Geno Smith and Matt Barkley, there will be interest in other players such as Lacy, Denver running back Montee Ball, St. Louis linebacker Alec Ogletree and Buffalo wide receiver Robert Woods, to name a few.
In regard to Lacy, Judge says teams may have backed off on the former Alabama running back because of injury concerns. But, Judge adds: "the Packers weren't concerned -- at least they weren't concerned with spending a low second-round pick on Lacy. If they're right, they gained a steal. If not, they may be covered. Remember, Green Bay turned around and added UCLA running back Johnathan Franklin in the fourth round."
The situation in the Packers' backfield with both Lacy and Franklin seems like an attractive story, maybe not across the NFL, but certainly in Green Bay. At the least, it should be entertaining to watch.
