Mike McCarthy didn't need to wait until the Green Bay Packers completed their crash course on defending the read option or give defensive coordinator Dom Capers time to finish his offseason analysis to know what his team must do better this season.

Mike McCarthy hates the question. He bristled when asked it again Tuesday at the NFL annual meetings: Are the Green Bay Packers a physical enough football team?

I don't get it. Why go to TAM to learn how to defend the read option?
Certainly go and learn how the offense puts it together and what they look for but get your butts down to LSU to learn how to DEFEND the damn thing.

Manziel had season lows against LSU. They must know something about how to shut it down.

The kid was 29-56 a 51.8% for 276 yards. He was intercepted 3 times. Ran the ball 17 times for 27 yards. The score was close 24-19 so it was not a blow out where he had to pass every single time.

The Packers did little last season to support McCarthy’s claim.

see the comments in the other thread on this issue. GB has a long way to go to show they are even remotely "tough". But then [MM] has no other choice but to say they are a tough team even when they have proven that they are not. He can't come out and say they play like a bunch of pu wimps. Perhaps injuries are part of the reason. We will see if they can beat up teams on both the OL and DL.

They've been called out. That's the first step.

Let's see if they can prove themselves. I'll believe it when I see it.

I would say if the team doesn't respond to the toughness question we have problems. If that doesn't raise your hackles as an athlete nothing will.
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?
