As I sit here writing this and at this very moment, Greg Jennings may be signing his next contract.  With that in mind, I’m not going to talk about which team I think he’s headed to or which team is the best fit.  That could be obsolete by the time I click "publish'.  What is NOT [...]

According to an NFL source, the #Packers had made an offer to @GregJennings "a while ago" that was worth about $10M per year.

Greg Jennings' tenure with the Packers might not be over just yet. An NFL source said the Packers remained in the mix for Jennings, who became an unrestricted free agent at 3 p.m. today.

I wouldn't mind it if he returned here.
As long as its at a decent price.
He'd have to eat a little crow if no
Other team makes him a big money
Offer.

10$ mil a year ... wouldn't want him with that huge contract unless it's a short deal 1-2 years ... 7.5-8.5 I'd welcome him back

It would be great to have him back at a more reasonable figure. There is a great value in Rodgers having a player he knows very well lined up on the edge or in the slot.

Jennings would be well served returning to finish out his career here too. Legacy. For instance, I bet Desmond Howard would trade the extra cash he earned with OAK for what might have been with two or more seasons in GB.

Another WR barometer for Jennings. RT @MMehtaNYDN WR Brandon Gibson was at Jets facility today...I'm told he's staying until tomorrow.

How about this for Greg,

6yr....54mil, stay with me here.

Give him a signing bonus of 10mil, guarantee another 14 mil.

Packers could then spread that 24 mil out over 6 yrs(4 mil a yr.)

Salary would be 2013 2mil., 2014 3mil., 2015 4mil., 2016 10mil., 2017 3mil, 2018 2mil.

Cap hit.............2013 6mil., 2014 7mil., 2015 8mil., 2016 14 mil., 2017 7 mil., 2018 6mil.

Of course after the 1st 3 years, The Packers would have to restructure taking the 12 mil of guaranteed money left and cutting Gregs salary.

This makes the agent happy, "window dressing" as I heard it called earlier.

Packers could handle the cap hit mcuh easier, and they get to keep Greg!!!

Wes Welker's not-so-daunting contract of 2 for 12 seems to make the 9 or so/year the packers are offering seem much more realistic!

I'd give Jennings a straight up 3 year $18M with a $6M signing bonus. Obviously the rest of the league has set his price tag. He can try and use the Vikings as leverage, but nobody would actually believe that Greg would want to put the rest of his career in the hands of Ponder.

He had a chance to accept Green Bay's initial offer. He rejected it because he thought the open market would pay him more. Actions have consequences and now the Packers will come down from their offer. I heard Peter King say today that you're looking at six or seven million a year. That's probably what both sides are offering. My guess is that his pride is hurt and he needs to decide whether he wants to swallow it and return to Green Bay or start afresh in Minnesota.

Not counting Mike Wallace's $12 million per year, the next highest has been $6.2 million per year and $6 million per year.

I thought Jennings was worth more and a WR needy team like the Vikings might be willing to pay more, but probably not that much more. I'm thinking at most $8 million per year... and maybe less than that.

And if plays for the Vikings he won't have a great QB throwing to him... and he's said in the past, he seems to play the worse in that dome.... then again, I guess they're going to be an out door team for a couple of years while they rebuild their place.
