Every time I hit the space bar key I hear a squeak that reminds me of nails on a chalkboard. Really pissing me off.

Something that kept up me late last night was ... when a member goes rogue or AWOL from here ... we don't know what happened to them. It got me wondering ... what if they passed away? Would we know? Would anyone in their family know to let us know? Am I overvaluing the importance of this site? Do we even deserve to know?

When someone from here decides to go elsewhere, or just to no longer participate... I take it personally. I question myself ... what could I have done better? Did I fail in keeping the site appealing? Did I fail in keeping the site unique? Did the site go down too many times? Did the site not respond fast enough? Did they get attacked and I overlooked it? Did I not do enough? Shit ... is it because of me??

No one is seeking an apology. Perhaps an understanding, maybe as I'm uninformed to what is going on. Most certainly, no one wants anyone to leave.

Kevin and Shawn,
I'm pretty sure Nick's departure has nothing to do with anything either of you said or didn't say, did or didn't do.

What was it he said in one post, "I'm living on borrowed time"? I'm not one of the ones he has shared any of the details with, but that sounded like a man getting ready for a death that is coming sooner rather than later. And that means he has a lot of goodbyes to say. He's simply decided that this is the time for him to say goodbye to us so that he can spend time with family, etc.

I don't know what I'd do if I faced that kind of situation. I'd like to think I'd handle my own goodbyes as well and compassionately as Nick's final post does IMO. But I probably wouldn't -- I fear I'd probably try to avoid that kind of responsible behavior until the day I die.

I'm honored that he remembered me -- I think he may be the first person other than a family member I've ever had say goodbye to me in this personal way. Come to think of it, he's the only person period.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I'm very stubborn, very (Shawn can probably attest to that) and I absolutely refuse to give up or let others give up. Dad told me when growing up, "You are Irish son, and Irish NEVER quit!". I've taken that to heart. Thinking more about it, maybe it's a good thing I didn't know how terminally ill my mother was. Maybe my grandma knew I'd push heaven and earth to keep her alive one more day even if it destroyed me. Maybe that's what she meant when she said "Kevin... listen to me ... there was NOTHING you could do, nothing". Maybe Nick feels (or realizes) something similar ... there is nothing he can do?

I am not fond of goodbyes in the slightest. Don't like'em. Unfortunately, not all of us can live forever.

Son of a bitch thinks he's going to get the last word like that, he's got another thing coming. I had something real special with Nick, and I'm going to miss him alot. This place isn't going to be the same for me without him. So long Nick, and remember Packer fans will always be greatful to the Minnesota Vikings for not letting Brad Childress get on that plane - we had to settle for Mike McCarthy - you really got us good!!!!!
