if there are any math nerds out there with some spare time, I'd be interested to find out our opponents' collective W-L record last year, and compare it with this year... i bet the disparity is huge. huuuuuuge.

I don't have any spare time, but I am curious, so I ran the numbers.

The collective record of Packers' opponents last season (counting each divisional opponent twice) was 120-126 (.469) compared to the Packers' record of 13-3 (.813), a disparity of -.344.

The collective record of Packers' opponents thus far this season is 108-88 (.551) [though it sinks to 116-108 (.517) if you toss in the two games yet to be played], compared to the Packers' current record of 5-9 (.357). This represents a disparity of +.194.

Interestingly, Green Bay has played three games against current division leaders (Minnesota and Tennessee) versus two games against division champions last year (San Diego and Dallas, though we also defeated the Superbowl-champion Giants).

It never ceases to amaze me how shortsighted fans and commentators are. Last year Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy were geniuses; hell, Thompson won "Executive of the Year" award. This year people are calling for their heads. Few coaches are as lucky as Jeff Fisher or Bill Cowher to have enough time, through the good seasons and bad, to finally have some success. After one or two bad campaigns, most coaches are out these days. Few teams have the luxury of continuity.

OK, Im convinced now. Fire everybody. Fire Carl. Fire Herm. Fire Gunther. Fire the players. After that game, theres really nothing to say but: Fire them all. And they should not stop there. The Chiefs should hire Greg Robinson back just so they can fire him again. They should call John Mackovic just to remind him that he got fired. They should bring in Donald Trump to walk through Arrowheads coaches offices and the locker room, just so everyone will fully understand whats going on.

I think they both should stay, however, if Ted Thompson doesn't put together a more balanced team (vets and youth) and they struggle again next season, he could be gone at that time. Murphy will not allow this team to slip on the field without making an attempt to avoid it.
Ted Thompson needs to add through the draft and FA this year. I'm not talking about 3-5 players, just a couple of solid to above average starters. This team needs a personality infusion of never say die attitudes.

I am all in favor of building thru the draft. But that only goes so far. Before during and after the draft they need to pick up some quality vets to go along with the current players. Vets who will be starters not special team players or 3rd string back ups who are not active on game day.

Neither should go this offseason, with that said, if we miss the playoffs in 09, I will be the first person at Lambeau calling for their heads

I think McCarthy is making a strong case for himself being removed at the end of the season. The most bothersome thing to me is that the team hasn't improved at anything at this point over the course of an entire season.

Things would probably be a lot easier for MM if Ted Thompson would give him even a decent o line, and D line.

After the third time calling the fullback dive play on short yardage...I think maybe its time for McCarthy to go.
