Despite two more misses by Crosby, his 11th and 12th this year, McCarthy said the Packers will not be looking for a new kicker. "We're not changing kickers. Write that down right now," McCarthy said. "He's our guy."

It makes you wonder if this comment is like the times when he says the players are not injured very seriously and are then out for 6-8 weeks.

Our backup kicker is Aaron rodgers right arm.

Seriously we should just go for it every time unless it's a 30 yard field goal.

There are some decent names on that list.

1. Keep Crosby on. Ride the horse until he's healthy or dies.
2. Bring in competition, give Crosby more to think about.
3. Release Crosby outright after tryouts.

If option #3, the FA choices seem to be
1. Old reliable veteran, probably can't kick it more than 45 reliably. Still stuck with kicker restrictions for the postseason, the stop-gap fix for this year potentially takes away a long-term kicking solution if Crosby turns himself around and with age, the old veteran likely won't be around for too long.
2. Younger kicker, more risky and in a couple cases the guy's just flat-out not good, but more long-term potential than a guy at the end of his career that can't kick it 50 yards.
3. Complete unknown. Could completely bomb, or work out well.

It's a big risk either way. Unless Crosby does really bad the last two games, I don't see any competition being brought in until potentially training camp. TBH on 4th and < 3 between our 30 and 40 I'm fine going for it most of the time unless it's close to the end of the game and it's tied/need 3 to tie. We've got a good offense and a QB that can scramble, I like our offense on 4th and 3 better than I like Crosby from 50.

Even the kicks he makes and his extra points are all wobbly and hooking all over the place. I don't think I've seen a kicker have a season with as many BAD misses as Crosby this year either. Some of his kicks are just complete shanks. That first miss he had today was one of the worst FG attempts I think I've ever seen.

McCarthy already gave him more than enough chances. At this point I don't really see him pulling through and figuring it out this year. Put the guy on IR or something.

Is it me or is Troy Aikman and Joe buck bad luck for Crosby?

Four reasons to keep Mason Crosby:

4. It'll give Joe Buck and Troy Aikman and Jimmy Johnson fits.
3. Unlike Ryan "The Dome" Longwell, he doesn't blame his holder.
2. Anyone remember the years when the Packers would have died to have a 70% field goal percentage? (Hint: The quinquennium including the Tom Birney period.0
1. Chester Marcol refuses to come out of retirement.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Zero2Cool (9h) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (9h) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (11h) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (12h) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job

    Zero2Cool (13h) : Thank you
wpr (13h) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (13h) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (13h) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (13h) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (13h) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (14h) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (14h) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (14h) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (14h) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (14h) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
    Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : what's so funny?
    Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Bears are finalizing a deal to hire Ben Johnson as their head coach. (via @tompelissero )
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : Looks like Lions OC Ben Johnson is going to be the Bears coach
