Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had high praise for his wide receivers after throwing for a franchise-tying six touchdown passes against the Houston Texans on Sunday night.

He saved the biggest compliment for second-year receiver Randall Cobb.

“Randall is probably going to go down as one of the better picks in Ted Thompson’s career, if not the best,” said Rodgers on his ESPN Milwaukee radio show Tuesday.

The Packers drafted Cobb in the second round in 2011 with the 64th overall pick.

“I think to get him where we got him, the kind of person that he is, the approach that he has, his knowledge of the game, what he adds to our team, his locker room presence, he is a personnel and a coach’s dream,” Rodgers said. “He’s a lot of fun to play with.”

Cobb still hasn't shown all he can do. He is exciting to watch. I was looking at how he is returning a kickoff, when he sees the hole he wants to go through he kicks it up another notch or two and takes off.

Uh oh. "...if not the best" could mean trouble.

2012 - Joel Worthy, Casey Hayward
2011 - Cobb
2010 - Mike Neal
2009 - none
2008 - Jordy, Brian Sweaty Palms, Pat Lee
2007 - BJack
2006 - Colledge, Gregorious
2005 - Collins, Murphy

Worthy remains to be seen, Hayward's kicking ass, Neal remains to be seen, Jordy is an elite WR (I don't even think this is arguable any more), Brohm is probably out of the NFL already, Pat Lee is still in the NFL and not bad as a Raider, BJack was a pretty good 3rd down back, but that's all he'll ever be, Colledge no comment, Gregorious has been unarguably elite but is now injury prone, Collins could have been great, Murphy had a rare injury.

I know it was meant as a compliment, but will Cobb really turn out better than Jordy or Gregorious? If he does, that would kick ass, but remains to be seen. Casey Hayward may even turn out to be 🇹🇹's best 2nd round pick. But of course, remains to be seen.

It's a shame Collins got injured because we'd probably be 5-1 right now. His skill sets + defensive leadership have been missed greatly since he went down.

At times, I am critical of Rodgers comments in the media.

But things like this, where he is openly praising a teammate, seems to not register with those in the national spotlight of talking heads. Either it doesn't fit their agenda or they simply can't digest it as it is.. genuine.

Either.. way, it is Rodgers opinion and we shall see if it plays out that way.

For Cobb... he so reminds me of Wes Welker in how he plays.. "scatterbugish" but highly effective. Those looking at why Drivers snaps are down.. he'd be the reason. They do about the same thing, thrive on the underneath stuff.. just Cobb is a little more electric at this point of Drivers career.

I cannot say any of that about Driver at this point. Perhaps Driver can be effective moving the chains here or there, but that's about it (and that's not meant as a slam on Driver necessarily, just the reality I see).

Cobb is exciting. Really looking forward to seeing this guy develop. What a weapon for Rodgers going forward.
