Well said...

Green Bay Packers Rodgers is chased by New Orleans Saints Johnson during their NFL football game in Green Bay Reuters

Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers were both outstanding on Sunday at Lambeau Field, but in a back-and-forth game with plenty of twists and turns, it was Rodgers’ Packers who ended up on top of Brees’ Saints, 28-27.

Brees completed 35 of 54 passes for 446 yards, with three touchdowns and no interceptions, but that wasn’t enough. Although he maneuvered them into range for an apparent go-ahead field goal late in the fourth quarter, the Saints’ successful kick was called back on a holding penalty, and when they were backed up the Saints missed.

Rodgers completed 31 of 41 passes for 319 yards, with four touchdowns and one interception, and a short completion on a third down just after the two-minute warning iced the game and gave the Packers the win.

For the second consecutive week, the Packers suffered at the hands of bad officiating. Last week it was the infamous Hail Mary in Seattle that wrongly gave the Seahawks a touchdown and likely led to the end of the NFL’s lockout of its referees. This week there are no replacements to blame, just longtime ref Jeff Triplette and his crew, who botched several calls, including a fumble by Saints kickoff returner Darren Sproles that they wrongly ruled down by contact, and a push-off in the end zone by Saints receiver Marques Colston on a touchdown catch that should have been called back for offensive pass interference.

But this time the bad officiating didn’t cost the Packers the game, and they improved to 2-2. The Saints fought hard, but in the end they lost once again, falling to 0-4.

When you turn the ball over, you don't get to punt.

The defense did very well today in the run game. The pass defense was shit though. I was actually more confident in 3rd and short than in 3rd and long. Our pass rush which had been pretty good the first three weeks completely disappeared. I think the young guys in the secondary are generally playing well enough. They need to clean up the miscommunications but if we can get the pass rush back the way it was before today then I'm confident we can slow down a good offense. We absolutely HAVE to get a pass rush though.

Offensively, minus the two turnovers... was about the perfectly called game.

One Turnover was Rodger trying to fit one in there.. some were asking for that, taking chances.. he took several today.

My only real complaint outside of the officials, was we should not play zone anymore until we can handle playing one... boy was that some ugly zone play. I get it, they fear the tightends.. but my goodness... learn how to play zone effectively. Even Woodson vacated his place... either that or several screwed up.

But again.. this was a decent game for the offense, look for more next week.

The defense.. stay in simple coverages.. can't handle complex zones yet.

Things I liked:
Jones and Finley continuing to play at a high level after a disappointing year last year (Especially Finley). Finley had a drop, but it wasn't a super easy one. Jones' miracle catch at the end was pretty sweet too, albeit unneccesary with the penalty

The playcalling. Mike seemed to do a 180 from what killed us on offense in the first half last week, and seemed to have a great mix of runs inside, outside, screens, slants, and deep shots. While it paid off in the end, wasn't a fan of the 4th and 1 fake punt but I do like that it's going to make other teams paranoid with all the trick plays we've been running. How long before we see the surprise onside kick?

Rodgers making better decisions, and not getting squirrely under pressure. He did get a LOT better protection, but when he sensed pressure he always seemed to know where his out was. When he did scramble, they were good decisions or designed runs.

Cedric Benson. I admit I was too hard on Grant, but Benson is an example of just what we were missing. He seems to make great reads and makes a gut, runs low and drives for what he can get. So far he's avoided fumbling problems and has even made a few good catches. I haven't paid close attention to him in pass protection so I can't comment there.

I'm glad that...
the Pack got a win today.
Rodgers looked like his old self again.
Benson ran tough.
the defense didn't give up/self completely self destruct after some bad calls.
Cobb, Jones, and even Finley stepped up and performed well.
Jimmy Graham didn't light us up.

I wasn't too happy about...
the third and forevers that the Saints converted.
how the middle of the field seems to be a safety zone for opposing receivers.
the blown coverages.
Woodson's composure (or lack thereof) after being taken down by a blocker after the play.
how it seemed to me that the d-line was not getting anywhere near the push that they had in the Bears or Seattle game.
