It seemed to me the young DBs, Heyward, MacMillian, Richardson, Levine and even Shields, were playing more aggressively. Was it "lights going on", scheme, better QB pressure, whatever? Anyhow it's encouraging.

The reason Capers play calling gets vanilla is because it's easier to evaluate individuals which is very important during the preseason.

Not sure what he's gonna do the last game. I'm guessing the starters will be aggressive play calling and the back-ups might be vanilla trying to figure out those last few spots.

But I've been very impressed with the young DBs. I made a mock roster and cut Richardson and Ross. I was disappointed cutting them but playing the numbers game. But if House isn't ready to go I think they would cut another LB and keep Ross. Richardson might be worth keeping as well but he's got Burnett, Jennings, Levine and McMillian in front of him (and Woodson in base)... think they'll try to sneak Richardson to the PS.

Doesn't sound too good for House coming back.

I'm hoping we can keep Richardson, Manning, Boykin and Datko around GB another year to see how they develop. The vanilla defense thing looks to be part of it. But the DBs flying to the ball and tacklin harder, especially on running plays.

An improved pass rush will help the young guys tremendously. Herb Adderly couldn't cover someone as long as the DBs were expected to last season, with the lack of pass rush.

Richardson sounds like a good practice squad candidate to me.
