http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Jim-Schwartz-tries-to-clean-up-skeet-shooting-remarks.html

Much noise about very little, but it will be interesting to see if the prediction in the last paragraph comes about.

It sounds like Jim Schwartz is backtracking some.

Maybe a lot.

The Detroit Lions coach took what most – or maybe just about everyone – believed was a pretty open shot at Mike McCarthy and the Green Bay Packers during the spring.

McCarthy chose to use one of his team’s OTA’s for a team-building exercise and he took them target shooting for a day instead of taking them out on the practice fields. If you recall, Schwartz took what looked like a mighty open dig at McCarthy when he said, “We had no sporting clays today or no amusement parks or water parks.”

Now, according to Anwar Richardson of MLive.com, Schwartz says that was not the case. His comment wasn’t directed at McCarthy.

“You know what's really funny?” Schwartz said. “I had no idea that it was even that. I had players who were saying, ‘Hey coach, somebody went skeet shooting. Somebody went to a water park. You know what's really funny? (Lions Senior Vice President of Communications Bill) Keenist sent me that article, and the day that article came out, you know what I was doing? Skeet shooting. I thought that was the funniest thing.

“That literally was about us and about where we were. It had nothing to do with any other thing.”

After Schwartz made his remarks during the spring, McCarthy shot back.

“We have a lot of confidence in the way we run our program, and we're always trying to make it better,” he said. “And I think skeet shooting is going to be the difference in us getting back to the Super Bowl. So there."

We’re not sure anyone in Green Bay is going to buy Schwartz’s version of the situation at this point and it probably doesn’t matter. If the Packers have a healthy lead in the fourth quarter against the Lions this season, we will not be surprised if McCarthy keeps his foot on the gas. Let’s just put it that way.

I think his panties are still in a bunch from Jim Harbaugh shaking his hand too vigorously.

I hate it when people back track like this. If you say something, own it. Be a man. This is really weak.

This whole deal is weak... whom gives a shit if Schwartz did take a shot at the Packers.. so be it. Actually I really don't think he took a shot, it was more a statement on how he manages the team and that will reflect in the cohesiveness of his ball club.

Guys like Schwartz and Rex have short reigns if they don't win.. guys will tune them out a in hurry without a bedrock of success.

I like aggressive coaching.. I think at times we lacked it prior to Greene being added to the staff.. but you have to have a proper mix of when to flash it. IMO, Jimmy and Rex overplay it a bit and forget about the small things that build a program and team.

But again.. really.. a self descriptive statement about how he runs his offseason programs is trying to be sold as some slap.. REALLY.

What next.. knocking a guy trying to catch a plane for not stopping to sign an autograph of a professional autograph seeker.. [duh]

This Mike Florio style of reporting bores me at times.

Jimmy, even though you're trying to change from an [ass] to an 😇 I still hope we kick you're azz 2 or 3 times this year. Actually, even better, I hope your team falls back to being a bottom dweller. Can you tell I don't like him and what he brings to Detroit?
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

dfosterf (4-May) : Google it. Make sure to tack NFL on it or you will get the military meaning
Zero2Cool (4-May) : S2?
beast (4-May) : Seems like the S2 has a love/hate relationship with professional scouts.
beast (4-May) : In theory, the S2 test how quickly a QBs brain can solve game like issues and how quickly they can do it.
dfosterf (4-May) : Are you gentlemen and at least one lady familiar with the S2 cognition
Zero2Cool (4-May) : Maybe there isn't an issue.
beast (4-May) : NFL really needs to fix their position labeling issue, but I don't think they care
Zero2Cool (1-May) : Packers did not activate the fifth-year options for linebacker Quay Walker, with the goal of signing him to a contract extension.

beast (27-Apr) : Thank goodness he's not leaving the Turtle in the Red Tide
Mucky Tundra (27-Apr) : Cowboys 1st round pick Tyler Booker will indeed be bringing his pet turtle to Dallas with him
Mucky Tundra (27-Apr) : that contained all prospects info and contact
Mucky Tundra (27-Apr) : beast, according the Falcons statement Jax came across it on an ipad. If I had to guess, probably an open spread sheet or something
