Since the draft is starting a few hours, I thought I'd do something I've never done before and share more detail on what I think would be a pleasing draft. I've organized it by place where I think the Packers should be willing to draft a player. I don't profess to be comprehensive, or even superficial, in my understanding, so I'm not going to try to rank five hundred prospects. I've noted my preferred choices (only change here is McClellin to Kendricks), but the rest are not ranked within that round.

I've used color to denote the player as the top player at that position the Packers should consider (assuming no trade up in round 1). (Not the same as top player at the position overall, of course.)

I know a lot of these are expected to go higher, some of them a lot higher, but this is my "no reaching" list. Strictly by my arbitrary assessment of "round value for the Packers in particular"

Here goes....

Players worth considering a trade up in round 1 if they "fall" to somewhere between 15-25 (depending on person):
Kuechley, ILB, Boston College
Cox, DT, Mississippi State
Coples, DE, North Carolina
DeCastro, OG, Stanford
Gilmore, CB, South Carolina
Ingram, OLB, South Carolina
Brockers, DT/DE, LSU
Poe, DT, Memphis

Pick #28: No one not on the above list.

Early 2nd (by trade of #28):
Mychal Kendricks, ILB, California MY PICK
Upshaw, OLB Alabama
Barron, SS, Alabama
Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama

Branch, DE, Clemson
Martin, OT, Stanford
C. Jones, DE, Syracuse MY SECOND CHOICE

Late 2nd (current pick):
Reyes, DT, Connecticut
Perry, DE, Southern California
D. Martin, RB, Boise State
Ta'amu, DT, Washington
R. Lewis, OLB, Oklahoma MY PICK
M. Martin, FS, Oklahoma State MY SECOND CHOICE
Silatolu, OG, Midwestern State
Curry, DE, Marshall
Konz, C. Wisconsin
J. Robinson, CB, UCF

3rd
S. McClellin, OLB, Boise State
H. Smith, SS, Notre Dame
Massie, OT, Mississippi
Worthy, DT, Michigan State
Iloka, FS, Boise State
Glenn, OT, Georgia
Hightower, ILB, Alabama
Zeitler, OG, Wisconsin
J. Norman, CB, Coastal Carolina MY SECOND CHOICE
Randall, DT, Texas MY PICK

4th
Tyrone Crawford, DE, Boise State MY PICK.
Massaquoi, OLB, Troy
McCants, OT, UAB
Potter, OT, Boise State MY PICK
Wolfe, DT, Cincinnati MY SIXTH CHOICE
Kelemete, OG, Washington MY PICK
Crick, DE, Nebraska
B. Irvin, OLB, West Virginia
T. Johnson, CB, Montana
B. Hardin, FS, Oregon State
J. Bethel, FS, Presbyterian MY FIFTH CHOICE

5th
Bergstrom, OT, Utah
Kaddu, Oregon, OLB.
Quick, WR, Appalachian State MY FOURTH CHOICE
Fangupo, DT, Brigham Young MY THIRD CHOICE
Thorpe, FS, Auburn MY PICK
B. Jones, C, Georgia
Minnifield, CB, Virginia
Judie, CB, Texas A&M
Saulsberry, C, Mississippi State MY PICK (compensation for trade out of round 1)
A. Hicks, DT, Regina
T. Compton, OT, South Dakota

6th
J. Jenkins, CB, Northern Alabama MY SECOND CHOICE
A. Hamilton, DE/OLB, Prairie View A&M MY PICK
Prater, CB, Iowa
Winn, DE, Boise State
E. Acho, OLB, Texas
Sensabaugh, CB, Clemson

7th
Anunoby, DT, Morehouse
D. Harrison, DT, William Penn MY ALTERNATIVE NON-QUARTERBACK

A. Davis, QB, Southern Mississippi MY PICK
K. Moore, QB, Boise State MY ALTERNATIVE QUARTERBACK
R. Wilson, QB, Wisconsin
D. Carrier, TE, Beloit

I am not a Chandler Jones fan, especially with our first pick... but, that is just me. Who knows? From what I've read he gets pushed around too much. Kendricks would be OK if they were looking to replace either of Hawk or Bishop. He's a tad short at 6-0.

I like Moore in the 7th, but wonder if he'll be there in the 7th. I really like Wolfe out of Cincinnati at DE/DT.

well, I'm now 0-6.

I'm still 'mathematically' alive for some 4th rounders, but it's likely I'm going to be 0-8 going into the 6th round.

dfosterf (18-Aug) : We do have good depth at running back imo. Still so frustrating. Bitching about it is a futile excercise, which I plan to do anyway.

Mucky Tundra (17-Aug) : Not a surprise; inevitable

dfosterf (13-Aug) : a lower back injury
dfosterf (13-Aug) : Doubs says he's "fine" after injury scare. Some reported it as z
Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : With LVN that is; need to see what happens in the next practice
Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : beast, reading about what happened, it sounded like one of those "two guys collide and are moving slow afterwards" type of deals
beast (12-Aug) : I believe Musgrave has been injured every single season since at least a Sophomore in highschool
packerfanoutwest (12-Aug) : Matt LaFleur: “Highly unlikely” Jordan Love plays more this preseason
dfosterf (12-Aug) : Doubs, Savion Williams, LVN, Musgrave all banged up to one degree or another, missing one here I forget

Zero2Cool (12-Aug) : zero help, dominated. preseason
beast (12-Aug) : QB Jordan Love has surgery
beast (12-Aug) : Martha said Morgan had a lot of help, I didn't watch the OL so I can't say.

Mucky Tundra (10-Aug) : With buckeye and the reasonable couple, we're currently sitting at 10
buckeyepackfan (10-Aug) : Just posted to re-up on our FFL.
Zero2Cool (10-Aug) : If healthy after, then thats all I care. Well, no drops would be nice
wpr (10-Aug) : I made it through the 1st Q.
dfosterf (10-Aug) : Just gotta figure out how.
dfosterf (10-Aug) : Could have been a worse start, so there is that.

Zero2Cool (9-Aug) : Woo-hoo
TheKanataThrilla (9-Aug) : NFL Network is broadcasting the game tonight, but not in Canada. Not sure why as no local television is showing the game.
beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
