if it didn't have to be a celebrity & i had a time machine, i'd spend the time with my dad, my aunt mary & uncle merle, my grandpa howard, & my great grandma irene.

if it had to be a celebrity, i'd pick aaron rodgers & donald driver.

It was July 3rd, 1974 when Linda told her father, Vernon, that she hated him and hoped he'd die. Kids sometimes say the worst things to their parents forgetting what tomorrow may or may not bring. Those very words she would learn to regret the next 34 years of her life. On July 4th, 1974 Vernon was doing laps at the local race track getting it ready for the ensuing race when suddenly his car veered to the infield striking a large tractor tire. Vernon suffered a heart attack an died almost instantly.

I as well would elect the time machine route to afford my mother the chance to tell her father she loves him one last time before he passes away six years before I was born.

I don't know if I could handle going back to spend one day with my dad, brother, or Happy, because at the end of the day I'd know that I had to say goodbye "that" way all over again.

Sometimes I want to die so that I can see them again. (The knowledge that one is going to with them for eternity is one of the coolest things about being a believer.)

But one day? It would be seriously cool for part of the day, and "I don't want this to end" for the other part, and then "oh shit" as all that opened scar tissue has to scar over for the second time.

Five minutes and I could say everything needed. Now, all I can do is look into the sky, speak and hope she's listening. The only drawback to that is I don't get to hear her laugh, or see her smile at my jokes anymore or tell me how much of a 'trip' I am to be around.

As for living celebrity, probably Will Smith. Those who know his story, will understand that.

That wasn't the case in my situation (well, not for my Dad and brother, anyway; it sorta was for Happy, though the vet saved the body until I could spend time mourning with it). I got to say goodbye.

I'm just saying that I wouldn't want to go through the "saying good bye" twice.
