I'm not surprised you got this far, so far. You have shown the temperment to be a great husband on this forum, along with the wisdom to be an excellent half to a whole. Congratulations, sir!

I add my favorite. (It's why I'm always a sappy-sucker at wedding receptions)

Thanks Nonstop. My older brother showed me those verses in Proverbs the week I got married. I have gotten a kick out them every time I get to that chapter.
It does not surprise me that you are happier with less. You will go far. Adversity draws people together or drives them away. Dakota and his wife have come through some real difficult days. I have confidence they are closer now than before.

ZS that Queen song was one of those late night songs that I enjoyed in our early years. I completely forgot about putting A Night at the Opera on my top 10 list. However looking at the play list there are only a few songs I truly like so it will end up Honorable Mention.

Foster well done sir. That was one of the songs Rhonda Chose for our wedding. When I played it for her a few min ago she smiled and got misty eyed. I should have thought of this one too. Her sister and sister's best friend sang it at the wedding. they did an incredible job. I wish we had a video of it. (The tech was just coming out back them and we didn't know anyone one who could record it and couldn't have afford it if we did. I sure wasn't going ask Dad and Mom pay for that luxury.)

Thanks to you all. You are all a special part of my family so I came here to share with you today. Final note (I hear someone calling me.) We dated for 5 years before I proposed. I am convinced it is a part of the reason we are together today. We broke up 3-4 times in the 5 years over a few issues - religion being one of the big ones. We really had to decide what we wanted in life and from each other. What were we willing to do or give up to get those things. By the time I was 22-23, I thought I knew it all (well almost all.) I was 17 when we met and turned 18 a month later. She was 18. Being in college really gave me time to put things like marriage off while I grew up. She went to tech school for a year and was working most of that time. Looking back 30 years later I can see how little I really knew. By the way I told her after about 3 months that I thought we would get married. Once again I thought I knew so much.

Congrats, Wayne!

Geezer-dom has to be cool when you've shared the trip to it with someone, eh?

Most excellent Wayne, most excellent indeed.

Huge congratulations.

And I do believe that your wife should be granted special dispensation from the Pope and nominated for sainthood.
30 years with you!....bless her heart.

Yep VR.

You do Coltonja

Appreciate it Cheese.

BTW, When she called me last night, there was a fly buzzing around bothering her. As Charlie Brown said, "Rats". šŸ˜£

Well I guess your 30th anniversary allows you to be a sap for a day. Come back tomorrow with some manly music.

Congratulations Wayne, that is quite an accomplishment indeed. Julie and I make it 13 years in June; and everybody wonders how that happened.

funny story about the Foghat song. A couple of years ago my son's new girlfriend and I were talking on FB about songs. I sent her a link to the Foghat song. About a half hour later I got to thinking about the lyrics and sent an email to my son apologizing. I told him that I was thinking about the melody and the instruments not the lyrics. I certainly didn't want to have her think I was hitting on her. He laughed and said it was no problem. She was impressed I knew the song. I then sent the following to her. She played it and my son and his roommate heard it so they walked around the rest of the day going, "Aaaahhhh, Aaaahhhh".

That didn't impress her very much. but they are still together so they won't have to see therapy because of me. I don't send her any songs any more. Just to be sure.

Wayne, I got to see Foghat live in this little 1,000 seat venue over in Mandan back in the 90's. It was incredible and flawless replecation of their music. It's why I go to the old men bands - they play their music with pride. Every once in while on Paladia, there will be a classic band and it's usually worth the time to watch.

back in 2003 my daughter worked the with the head concessionaire at the NIU Convocation Center. Part of her duties was to see to the needs of the various entertainers when they came in to do a show. For our anniversary she bought Rhonda and I tickets to the Kansas, Styx concert. The opening act was John Waite. When my daughter very polity and professionally asked if he needed anything before the show he hit on her. She was 19 at the time and he was about 50. If I could have bashed him with a baseball bat I would have. She handled it very professionally. Anyway knowing that I thought he was sleep walking through his performance. I didn't care at all what he act was.

Kansas was pretty good but it was not their best work. Styx was excellent. They were worth the price of admission alone. They worked their @sses off the whole time. Tommy Shaw was kind of fun. He was jumping around on stage. Running through the audience. He grabbed a mike between songs and asked the audience when did they go from being a rock band to a CLASSIC rock band?

Edit- I just looked at the tour schedule they had back in 2003. That concert was their 12th in 18 days. They still had two more shows to do after that. From DeKalb they went out to Waterloo, IA the next night only to turn around and head back to LaCrosse, WI the following night. I am sure they were all just about exhausted. If Kansas was a little flat I understand why. Not Waite however. He will always be a douche bag in my mind.
