Just got home from taking my parents to see Lion King on Broadway, and this has been the first time I have ever felt this much emotion about a production (movie, tv program or stage show). When I say this was a spine-tingling performance, I absolutely mean it (keep in mind that I've never given another form of entertainment this kind of review).

From the moment 'The Circle of Life' first started playing, I got goosebumps. The scene where we last see Simba and Mufasa alive literally grabbed me by the throat. The costumes and sets/backdrops were beautifully elegant (and complicated in some scenes). All the way to the last scene where they reprise 'The Circle of Life' (also giving me goosebumps) I was enthralled.

I submit that anyone who didn't at least like this show does not have a soul.

In short: GO!

We have seen the Broadway performance of The Lion King three times now. Twice in Spokane WA, and once in Chicago. An absolutely stunning show, and you're right...from the opening "Circle of Life" to the end you are enthralled by the show.

We have tickets to see it again in Spokane this June. I have two shirts from the show, one a Tee-shirt and one a sweat shirt that have Scar pictured on it and his famous line...."I'M SURROUNDED BY IDIOTS!!" I wear it when I substitute in PE classes down at school. Kids love it.

Anyone for a Weenie Roast?

But I guarantee this, the next time it's in Minneapolis, we are going. Even if it's just my wife and I. All day today at work I was humming/whistling Lion King songs. And I still can't believe what I saw.. It's like when I recall the memories from the show, it feels like I'm recollecting a dream instead of tangible memories.

Stunning.

Technically if you saw it in Minneapolis, Spokane, Chicago, etc., it was of Broadway.

To be "on Broadway", you would have to see it in the original cesspool of America, i.e., NYC.

But, I call it Lion King on Broadway because that's exactly what it says on my tickets. Well, 'Lion King on Broadway Across America'.
